Rhydian,I don't get it.
An adequate singer but nothing special . He does'nt emote well, seems to have false humility and will not have a lasting career I feel. My brother disagrees with me, we are always arguing about it, but I just cannot see the appeal myself.

Don't rolleyes at me. This is a public forum and I am entitled to my opinion. Just as you have yours.
I think what kjp was intimating was that there are already those who are fed up of so many Rhydian threads, not that you were being critical perse. |

I think Rhydian has a great voice as do many others. However there are those who are not of the same opinion and I respect their right to that opinion.

It's called the X Factor. You either have it, or haven't.

Regarding your comment, it's all a matter of taste and if Rhydian isn't to your taste, fair enough. But to say he's just an "adequate" singer, "nothing special" and to say he "doesn't emote well" is laughable. How would you describe emoting well? Who would you say emotes well? False humility? Do you know the guy? As for not having a lasting career, do you have a crystal ball? |

No-one is going to appeal to everyone, human nature is diverse. I think a lot of people who like Rhydian do feel a bit protective towards him because he had such a hard time at the beginnig through no fault of his own - this went as far as him receiving death threats, not seriously meant I presume but nevertheless very unpleasant.
I don't agree that it is false humility. I tend to believe what I have seen over the last two months, go by the comments of those working on the X Factor with him who all seem very fond of him and by his radio interviews where he rates the other acts above himself - I believe this over the image projected by a total of maximum 20 minutes of heavily edited video from the early stages - an image that the judges are still trying to correct. |

Why don't people go to the Unbalanced thread to bitch about Rhydian. It saves us having to endure yet more 'HE R B NO GUD. VOWT HOP! PHEEBEE ROX!'

oh dear. there's more rhydian love threads than anything else on this forum, and one quite moderate thread causes all this anguish.
i don't get him either. he's just a novelty act to me. but i think the support is getting quite carried away with itself, it's almost verging on worship. however good you think he is, he's just a contestant on a talent show. please try and remember that. |

Yes, its fun, and it makes a pleasant change to have some very positive threads. The threads are fairly obviously named, so if Rhyd doesn't float someone's boat then they can paddle off to another one. |

![]() Personally I can't see him losing this year. I admire his talent and he seems to have a nice personality. Some of the gushing over him is a bit OTT though, and I reckon it would make him very uncomfortable if he knew of it. |

hi.
Can i just say your all so uptight when it comes to posting about Rhydian, Its getting to the point of treating him like god, its not healthy people. I agree that he is really just a person on a talent show he has been bigged up and yes hes the favourite but so what, does'nt mean hes everybodys cup of tea. Of course he can sing otherwise he wont be there but i dont think he has the x factor, hes a novelty act like same difference i think hes just there to make the show camp. I dont get him at all and he's certainly not my favourite he annoys me hes very bigheaded and false but thats just what i think obviously he has fans but i think everyone should be able to put across their point without being made to feel like they cant say anything about him its not fair, i think all the threads and fans are just a bit out there and ridiculous and i'm sorry but people are going to be negative about him they're negative about every act and it was his fault he got it hard at 1st he didnt do himself any favours with his attitude . Sorry if people dont agree with me thats fair enough but i have every right to speak on here its a public forum after all |

All acts have their share of unfair crtiscism but the way Rhydian was portrayed on the VT's meant he came across really badly towards the public, so once fans began to see how unfairly he was portrayed I think they have become rather passionate defending him against these accustations. But to say he is only an adequate singer - I don't understand at all. he is easily the best singer in this competition - he always hits the notes, his voice has been classically trained so I cant see how anyone can really find a fault in it. Yes you might not like it, but to call it only adequate, huh? and about him not having a lasting career? Who CAN you see out of the acts left with a lasting career? If Rhydian won't last long with all the fans and support he's gathered over the past few months I can't see who you can possibly see having a long term career. |

I'd say he has a good voice, better than adequate, but not fantastic. He has the best voice in the competition, but compared to Andrea Bocelli, the main singer in Il Divo, Pavarotti etc, he still has a way to go to get to their level.
