Anybody please help me here? I am looking to buy a Panasonic DMR EX 77EB DVD recorder to replace my Panasonic SA-HT870. Can I connect the DMR EX 77EB dvd recorder to my current surround sound which is the Panasonic SC-HT870. The current player SA-HT870 is connected to the SURROUND SYSTEM SC-HT870 BY A SYSTEM CABLE (K1HA25HA0001). Any advice would be great. As the surround sound is fantastic I do not wish to replace it. The current dvd player works fine, just want a recorder. Thanks

Firstly, I dont see the need for your current DVD player as the Panasonic SC-HT870 has a player built in doesnt it?

To attach the DVDR you should really use a digital cable (optical or coaxial) but I dont think this unit has any digital inputs!

Try using the'system cable' (whatever that is) as now.

Did you not read what i typed.........

Is this not straight forward enough?

These one-box systems (especially from Panny and Sony) do not have the required auxilliary inputs to make connection of external equipment easy.

The sound from the DVD/amp is usually OK and this sells the box. You get home and then cant get a decent sound from the TV or an STB because there is nowhere to connect it!
