rights re Swisstec TV
Thank you the 2 who replied I have been to the Cooperative Store that sold me the TV they could not help out of guarantee as to prove the 3 hours approx is vertually impossible although true due to unforseen circumstances. I asked them to contact Swisstec to get me relevant data they stated that I would have more response if I contacted them but no one can tell me how to I tried the e mail route message returned to me as not able to send.

So much for the 'caring sharing Co Op then'....
Whilst the set is two years old and therefore out of guarantee, your contract of sale was still with the Co op, therefore they should be able to assist you with getting the item repaired. The 6 year thing does not automatically entitle you to a free repair, replacement or exchange, however it does mean you should be able to get it repaired, albeit on a chargeable basis. If the store are not helping, then I suggest you get in touch with the relevant Co op HQ - ask the store for the details. They should be able to advise who you need to contact to get it repaired. They will either have their own engineers or they will have sub-contracted it to a third-party. Either way they should be able to help you more than they are. In the event it is not possible to get the set repaired i.e. parts not available or uneconomic to repair you *MAY* have a possible claim against the Co op on the grounds a television should last longer than two years without a fault of that magnitude arising. The likely settlement would either be a partial refund or credit towards a new set. It's highly unlikely you'd get a full refund or replacement. If you still struggle it may be worth speaking to your local Trading Standards office - not Citizens Advice. Trading Standards are professionals who know and understand the law and give the best advice. CABs on the other hand are staffed by volunteer amateurs who I would never recommend listening to. Hope this helps. |
