How many simultaneous recordings?

Evening Gents

Please can someone clarify how many channels the Topfield can simultaneously record?

Some of the literature implies that it is capable of recording from two seperate muxes, suggesting potentially greatly more than two channels?

Thanks!

out of the box the toppy can record two channels at the same time, and you can then watch a third separate channel as long as its on the same Mux as one of the channels being recorded.
if a two recordings are taking place at the same time, and both those recordings are on the same mux, then you can watch any thrid channel.

there is also a record a mux Tap, that will record every single channel thats being broadcast on a single mux, although it uses a fiar bit of disk space.

Hi Richard

Many thanks for taking the time to reply.

The Mux tap you mention, does work 'inteligently' enough so that I could just keep programming in more and more recordings that happen to be on the same mux?

I'm pretty sure it does; it's called Record-A-Mux

Note that it's more a proof of concept, but it does work.

The readme contains the warning

Quote:
“*** do not use when the loss of a recording may damage your health ***”

Don't forget there are 2 tuners so you can record 2 muxes.

Yeah the record a mux TAP is a concept TAP. I don't think you have to record the whole MUX, only the channels you require in the MUX.

At present this proof of concept TAP is manual operation, so you have to be present to start it (i.e you can't have timers).

That may all change though.
