They expect perfection off Alesha but let the others make mistakes?

I think you're right to some extent, as Alesha definitely has a performance advantage from having performed live on stage (though she looked terrified tonight, especially before her samba!). But ironically, Matt di Angelo & Letitia both have more actual dance training than she does so it all evens out. She had done no formal training at all prior to Misteeq, whereas they were both at Sylvia Young and it's compulsory - and you do a LOT of it whilst you're there. I think with Tish, it's been so long since she was there that she's probably forgotten a lot of it, but it's not so long since Matt left. I think that's why the judges can be a tad harsh on him too - they know he has more ability than he showed tonight.

I think in reality Kenny's the only one who has no real previous experience to draw on.

The remark about the expectation of perfection was wrong - this will make her even more nervous than she might be already.

Her performance was not up to her usual standard. A bit flabby and overmarked, I thought. But since they are all doing two dances, it is expecting too much perhaps, for these people to produce the higher standard of performance they might do with only one dance.

Well the judges have to have a go at someone....and now that Kelly`s gone it`s Alesha`s turn to take the flack....and lets not forget the criticism she received was nothing compared to that which they dished out to Ms Brook last week.

I totally agree with the thread title.

I missed the show but wathed teh dances on Youtube.

I got really annoyed when Len and Arlene said that they were expecting two p;erfect dances from Alesha. Poor girl.

Earth to Len adn Arlene, she is not a professional dancer and never had dance training
GIVE HER A BREAK!

Ditto.

The marking, and the criteria for it, is seemingly completely random ~ for Len to say to Gethin "you made some footwork errors, but I'm prepared to overlook that" and then to Alesha "I'm not prepared to accept any footwork errors from you" (I'm paraphrasing) is fairly out of order.

The mark are too high at this stage of the comp, and much as i love Alesha I do think her Samba was overmarked quite considerably. Well performed, yes, but i didn't see a lot of the famous samba bounce action we hear so much about, and she seemed to be flagging slightly. Although having said that i think all five couples showed that the transition from one dance to two takes it out of you ~ everyone seemed to be below their own personal par last night, with the exception of gethin.

I think Alesha's marks were right - if anything they were too high (and I'm a huge fan of hers). But Len making those comments was insane. We know they hold different standards for each dancer, but to actually say it was unbelievably stupid.

The leaderboard was correct though. I can see the point of trying to make her improve the techniques that are maybe a bit sloppy, but saying they expect perfection is silly. Why can't they say that because she has so much natural ability that her *j* is to tidy up any bad habits.

I'm so pleased you've started this. I was so mad when Len said he could forgive the others for sloppy footwork, but not her. And then Arlene said she expected Alesha to be perfect.

She isn't a pro.

I can't believe people still say she is overmarked!!!
