ITV's reply to my complaint that i could not register my vote.

"We are sorry that you were not able to place your vote on this occasion.
Please note that at periods of very high demand i.e. directly after an on air mention of a number, you may have some difficulty getting through to particular lines. ITV tries to keep this problem from occurring as much as possible."

I wonder which particular lines and how often the problem occured.

Sounds like you want us to think you know.. as do others on here who have consistantly tried to give the impression they are the fountain of knowledge of the workings behind the scenes in ITV and the voting system. How will we ever know? We won't -as simple as that. You have your biases like everyone else. That is why there should be no question that the whole phone voting process should be made totally transparent, after all it is we, the public, who are keeping this type of programme on air with our hard earned money. Personally, I never once had a problem voting for Janice, apart from once when I assumed the lines were closed. .. but that doesn't make me doubt others who did. I would never trust anything, for the very reason we simply don't know. What I found appalling was the ITV luvvie's blanket attempt to brainwash the public. Vanessa Feltz was the only presenter that I know of who came out and openly expressed her vote for Janice.. is that because she is with the BBC? I also felt there was blatant manipulation by ITV during the last week of ICGMOH to promote Biggins whenever they could.. I still want to know if there was any live feed seen before that rat appeared on his bed. The whole rat thing seemed set up to me to cause extra laughs and attention for Biggins. He had already featured on that evening's show a lot and then he is 'suddenly' chosen to do the rat thing. That was the point I knew that Janice had lost. It was obvious to me and every last person I know that there was favouritism. I see his new afternoon show was announced in the Mail yesterday. Go figure.

The idea that they'd willingly limit phone lines (and revenue) just so that a "mate" can win it is ludicrous.

Stop your whining, Janice didn't get enough votes to win it. That's it.”

They do limit phone lines - or people would all be able to get through. The point is not every vote does get through. The question is if the line getting the most calls jams more than one getting less. If it does you not only can have a winner whose vote is understated but you can have a runner up with fewer votes who would have won if every vote had got through.

Until the programme makers announce how many phone calls have been received and how many for each contender nobody knows by how many the winner of any reality show has outstripped the runner up. The whole process continues to be shrouded in mystery and until voting figures are announced no one will know if the winner won by ten, several hundreds or thousands.

It‘s never made transparent. Why is that?

Not really.
The company that handled the GMTV phone-in fiasco is about 7 miles down the road from me in Birmingham.

Maybe ITV have taken it back in-house.......

As you obviously know different from the way you started you posting perhaps you could share the knowledge you have...........................................
