last weekend my Sony HDD recorder seemed to ahve lost all my stored radio channels (also my old ITV digital box had too). I couldn'tt find them anywhere - even with a re-tune - are they gone for good or is there any way to get them back?

Have you tried unplugging the hdd recorder at all?
Have you tried deleting all the channels, and then rescanning,by not simply adding or replacing new channels but a new install scan?

Last Sunday is was in visiting relations near Swansea and Channel 5 disappeared for a while. This was on two DVD recorders, a freeview box and a Freeview TV, on three different aerials (but on the same transmitter). Tried doing a channel scan and Channel 5 was gone, also Virgin 1. By the evening they were back.....?

No - haven't tried that - will give it a go. Did turn the automatic upgrade function off a while ago (for the usual locking up reasons) - maybe that has something to do with it?
