Well, not quite, I don't agree with EVERYTHING that man says, but a lot of the time he does take a sensible view on acts and doesn't seem as pre-occupied as the other judges to ensure one of his acts win the competition.

Thought I'd bump this one. I have to say that I haven't noticed any of the back handed compliments and thinly disguised sneers in the later stages. Even Mrs O seemed to be behaving herself quite well. Anyone else notice one that slipped past my radar?

I think the judges seemed to give their opinions, good or bad, quite straight forwardly in the final.

It was entirely clear that Simon and Mrs O had had a 'meeting' on the Friday before the Semi Final because her whole demeanour towards Rhydian changed remarkably. I'm assuming next year's contract was placed before here face and Simon started ever so slightly to rip it up whilst he was asking for her co-operation.

LOOOL. I could imagine that happening.

I think you may be right. I was watching her like a hawk . I wonder what she really thinks.

A facial expression whilst lost in thought and unaware of who's watching you can so often betray what your true thoughts are as to a person/thing/object etc. Check out 1.22 in on this vid and tell me she doesn't hate the ground he walks on.

My problem with Simon is that although he appears to be the one with integrity, he's as guilty as any of them of being weighted in favour of his own acts and changing his opinions according to the public vote.

Last year he praised Dionne to the hilt in the first week saying that she'd be a huge star if she'd been born in America. The following week she "wasn't connecting with the audience" (He'd obviously heard the voting figures)

This year he wrote Leon off in the first week, told everyone that Hope were the Best Group ever in the X factor and also made up his mind that Rhydian would win.

I agree with the OP about thinly disguised barbs from Sharon, she's not exactly subtle is she? When she said something good about Rhydian in the show, I was always waiting for the not so subtle put down to follow.

Oh He's just brilliant! and yes you could cut the venom with a knife. Although that was in the early days. It is just possible she changed her mind. I'm in two minds. On the one hand I get the impression that her opinions about people are fixed. On the other hand I also think she is crap at hiding her hate.

I'm amazed how some people can remember every comment the judges make.

Sharon's comment to Rhydrian about Joseph was a positive one, she was saving there loss was XF's gain. Although I'm not a huge fan of Rid, I agree with her, without him the whole series would have been a total wash out.

Sharon could never stand Rhydian. I think all her positive comments are rubbish. She doesn't mean any of them. This is all about Simon having words with her.

I read in the Now! that Shaz has left the XF. It was along with an article where she threw a £30, 000 diamond ring to a crowd at a do she was at. (Much to the shock of Kelly O, who was with her). Surprised there's been no thread on this....must go research.

Really?

Well it must be the millionth bleedin' time she's "left" the show.

Just you wait though. As soon as Cowell dangles another pay cheque in front of her she'll come running right back, the grasping little beacon of utter senility that she now is

I dont think Louis meant the Songs of Praise thing nastily but the audience took it as an insult.
I'm not sure if Sharon really liked Leona - she said in her VT's she reminded her of a young Mariah Carey "but we have Mariah" etc, and she would compliment her on her looks "you're a beautiful young girl" etc (and she is) but not her singing.
Do any of TXF judges say "You had fun"? Leon looked like he had fun *nudge nudge* doing How Sweet It Is but it sucked IMO.

Awwwww, I love Sharon. She's been badly behaved this year, but I like her.

But I think that I also read that Sharon has been given another contract....? Conflicting stuff as usual.

Couldn't find the ref in the Now! site. I read it in the magazine I love the Now!

I don't think Sharon will ever get the sack, tbh. She's a loose cannon and she just knows far too much, lol.

Yeah, Lulu Walsh to SD in the final. He said it was a great way open to the show, granted, but then he just said I can't believe you're in the final 2-3 times and 'someone most be voting for you somewhere'. Well duh!

You could be right there - Simon would have to pay her a retainer just to keep her mouth shut (not that that would stop her )

I'd much rather the judges came out and said exactly what they thought rather than the sly digs. I can't stand Louis but at least he wasn't mealy mouthed about SD. I don't like the judge/mentor system because they don't give fair criticism to their own acts. Judges and mentors should be two seperate groups of people.

Simon is just as guilty as anyone else on both those things.

Have you any examples?

It seems to me that Simon is very open about his critisisms.
