Next series can we all agree to the following ideas?

Retain a sense of humour, it's only a bit of fun.

Don't whinge and cry CONSPIRACY when things don't go the way you'd like them.

Accept that not everybody likes the same people as you do, and it's NOTHING to do with their gender/age/size/sexual orienation etc.

Encourage lively and witty debate.

Don't let this forum become another big brother forum.

OK!

But you will have to remind me next year that I signed up to your proposal

I understand your view point however the antics of ITV this year were pretty hard to swallow.

Still thankfully People like Biggins do not appear more than once in a life time. So bring on the harmony.

I suppose you think that's funny!

I reckon here are a lot more like you plotting this sort of thing.

You medium height, twenty-something females, into S&M, are all the same!

Just calm down and be serious.

Big Brother is watching you!

Actually it doesn't, it translates as exactly the opposite, i.e. nobody should be ridiculed for liking a particular celeb. You two have been doing that all the way down the line and yes, I would like to see it stop but I don't hold out much hope. Still....maybe you will prove me wrong, who knows?

but ridicule is just that, ridicule. it's what humour is based on, and these reality shows are entertainment, a leisurely distraction from the rigours of real life, a perfect context for humour, whether it's ridicule, ribbing, joking, teasing, playfulness etc.

I just don't understand at which point, and why, people stopped being able to have a laugh at these shows and the people in them. In normal conversations between people in pubs, clubs, archery clubs etc etc, joshing, joking, teasing, witty observations and the like are normal. in fact they're the very best of these situations.

Quite frankly, if my social life was like these forums, i'd give up on it. who wants to spend their leisure time being wound up, angry and defensive? not me.

I totally agree but would also add that celebrities shouldnt be ridiculed just because they are in a the show and may just stop your favourite from winning.

The only reason and stress only was simply because of the negative comments which were continually made by Janice supporters in the final week and Im guessing have continued after the show finished.

In my opinion it was a poor series and was proven when a comic actor who was probably best known for his part in Porridge or as a TV Kids Presenter beat an ex-supermodel from america.

Next year lets hope ITV manage to get some actual celebs involved.

Problem is, you are/were ridiculing the fans of a certain contestant, not just the contestant herself or the program she was taking part in. I don't see why they should feel angry and defensive after you and mykey wound them up.

And if you feel that these forums are so bad, why not give up on them indeed.

Fact is, my impression of you two is that you're a couple of trolls coming here to wind people up and deriving great pleasure from it - as trolls do.

Oh come on guys can't we just get along and not start calling each other names. I'm a frequent dabbler on these forums and generally don't post in reality tv boards because you just get sucked into pointless arguments.

However I have to say that reading this sub board this year the tone had completely changed and was very aggressively pro one celebrity and negative to any other especially biggins. I have to agree with the OP comments about how we should behave next year.

And for those of you that are interested, yes i preferred biggins to win over janice. This wasn't because of some ITV conspiracy as I don't watch anything else on itv. I liked biggins because I found him entertaining and made me laugh (to quote and agree with chris moyles) despite him being rather blinkered about the swinging scene. Janice I just found rude and irritating from the off and this might have been an act and she was playing a game, but it didn't appeal to me.

It's all a bit of fun in the end.

Lets hope that next years lot all launch perfumes and we all buy them. That way even though we don`t agree, we can all smell the same and be broke too!

Yes, this board did end up aggressively supporting one contestant, to an incredible degree for a fairly large proportion of viewers (several hundred is more than a small sample)

The question is, Why did that happen? This is not a Janice fan site, it's a public board, and you would think it would be representative.

Any theories?

I'd guess that DS forums members are not representative of the voting public - there'd be a higher proportion here of people that watch the live feed, for one; and by posting what they saw and heard they'd influence other FMs as well.

did you read the live thread at all

there was plenty of humour on them and we did have fun

I think we are allowed to whinge and cry CONSPIRACY after the way ITV manipulated the programme and support for Biggins

I (and others) accept that not everyone likes the same things

we did have lively and witty debate (usually about biggins or Lynne)

We wont let it become like the BB forum if TPTB dont try to fix it or have an agenda for a chosen one to win

could it be that most of us liked janice better than the rest

or could it be that we saw what happend on live feed and decided that inspite of what ITV wanted us to do we did the opposite

yeah but no but, it was so EASY to ridicule the janice fanatics, they took themselves, the programme and everything so seriously. It was more entertaining than the programme, watching who could pile on more ludicrous praise, more complicated paranoid conspiracy theories, more bitter and spiteful accusations against any non-janice supporters, both in the camp and on here.

If having a laugh makes me a troll, then that's a very sad day indeed. It seems that there's a great big hypocrisy to which a lot of people are blind, that anything that disagrees with you is trolling, and anything you say which is ridiculing, insulting or negative in any other way, is just "telling it how it is".

Cake and eat it time.

Ridicule - to deride, mock or humiliate.

Isn't it a tad hypocritical to appeal in your opening post for humerous, witty dialogue and fun between fellow FMs then brag about how easy it is to ridicule those same FMs in this post.

It appears that you are just as guilty of wanting to "have your cake and eat it" as those FMs to whom your remarks are directed.

I agree with you Davinawho... if it's the only way to stop the sermons  :yawn: You cannot possibly be a troll which somebody so unkindly called you, you sound far too perfect for me for that. Can we all get back to the subject at hand...er what was the subject at hand? I, for one won't be watching the programme again in the future and won't be spending my money on a vote. I think Malcolm Maclaren might have some interesting points of view and I would like to hear what he says about it all.

I have to agree. I'm often amazed by the number of posters on this board who can't take a joke but are happy to make personal remarks toward other posters.

I will continue to form my own opinions and write posts that are intelligent, interesting and undeniably hilarious, even if that means upsetting a few fans of bloated pantomime performers and exposing the sham that is modern-day television
