Anyone got one of these HDMI DVD players from TESCO?

What do you think of it?

Also, does the upscaled signal come out of the RGB as well as the HDMI?

It's a cheap DVD player with an HDMI socket, if you have a spare HDMI socket on your TV, and not a spare SCART, it gives you an extra input to use.

But an upscaling DVD player isn't any better picture than a normal one, your TV already upscales anyway.

No, RGB is only SD, it was never upgraded for HD, as HD is essentially American who never used RGB for TV.

Depends if the upscaling chip in the DVD player is better than the one in the telly to be honest.

Which is unlikely considering how cheap it is.

However there's no reason for the cost to mean it can't do decent progressive detection and supply a decent 576p signal on HDMI for films.
