I will soon buy a Panasonic TH-37PX70 or Samsung PS42Q97HDX. Which do you recommend for SD digital tv?

I've got the 37PX70 and it's a fantastic telly. I did a fair bit of research before I bought it and pretty much everywhere was talking it up as one of the best plasmas there is.

Try and stretch to the 42" Panny. Its amazing. Look for deals. Empire direct are very good prices and give 3 to 5 years warranty for £20 extra. Also Panny are backing a 5 year warranty from lots of retailers, including some that sell at online prices. Use your feet to vote ie finding best price. Oh and the 37" is a fab set to, a friend got one and he is over moon about it.

Yes but you don't know how far he sits from the screen. Without knowing that you can't possibly say the 42" would be ok for him.

Yes if it was a choice between those two the Panasonic is a superb all round telly for SD and HD material. I wouldn't change ours. Don't pay more than £800 and you might manage it for less.
