bt line installation
Hello
I am getting a new BT line connected. The previous tennant had VM phones. I see there are standart sockets all over the house. A regular phone fits in the socket aswell. Can I uses those even if its a BT line or do I need new sockets and new wiring in the house? What will actually be done during the "BT line installation?". Will he just connect the house master socket? How does Virgin phone / phone sockets differ from BT? |

The BT sockets and Virgin Sockets will be same spec, they have to be for UK regs.
BT can't touch the Virgin Media master socket and Virgin Media can't touch the BT master socket. You can't (well shouldn't) touch anything past the text socket on the master sockets of either BT or cable sockets. When you get the BT master socket installed (if there isn't already one there) there's nothing stopping you disconnecting all the VM extenstions from the VM master socket and connecting them up to the BT master socket. The extension sockets are your 'property'. The BT network and cable network is separate they have their own wiring, hence having to use separate master sockets, though you'll find new cable master sockets look and are all in reality identical to BT master sockets. |

Yeah, the T one will be the old Telcom logo.
Depends on the age of the socket on their design. If old design then you need to take the cover off and see if you can find the ring circuit components. http://www.wppltd.demon.co.uk/WPP/Wi...telephone.html BT ones will have their logo on, either current logo or ones from the past, cable ones will have their logo on, either current logo or ones from the past. |
