It makes great sense and I hope you get a good answer. I need to do the same thing too. If fact I used to have a sound program that had a wonderful extra channel - in addition to microphone, line in, etc - "What I hear". That program was for a sound card that stopped being used 5 years ago, but the program died too.

So if anyone knows of a program that has this wonderful "channel", please let me know too.

Best of luck.

Maybe something like this could be what you're looking for?

Do you have a CD recorder? If so, why not run the L & R audio outputs from the DVD player to the input on the CD recorder?

I use two separate PC programs to achieve this - TMPGEnc DVD Author to rip the DVD title into an MPG, then AVS Video Converter to extract the DD/DTS audio from an MPG and turn it into a stereo MP3. Both are available from download.com.

AoA audio Extractor is a great programme that will rip the audio track off a DVD and convert it to MP3, WAV or AC3 files at varying bitrates. I used it to get the audio from my Placebo concert DVD and put that on a CD.

It's free and simple to use, just make sure you choose the All Files menu when opening up the DVD, so it will see the video and then you're away.
