How does a 3-act final work?
Sorry if that has already been posted but I was out of the country when Shayne Ward won Series 2 so I've only ever seen head-to-head final. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how they'll work a 3-piece final. Ie, how many songs, do they all perform the winner's song, will the 3rd place be eliminated before they pick the eventual winner?
Thanks.

Never seen any other series but i imagine that 3 of them two songs, then they open the phone lines and the lowest is kicked out. Then the last two sing the "winners song" and the phone lines are opened again.

I actually think they'll each sing 3 songs in the first show, as this is the way it was done in the Series 2 final:

The best song from their performances so far;
Xmas song;
A Song of their choice.
We'll then break for 45 mins before coming back for the 'results' show. At this point, an act will be voted out, leaving 2 acts who will each perform the winners song. Once this has happened, a final vote reading will be taken and the winner announced. |

I hope this is the case. It sounds pretty exciting! Leona & Ray didn't do a Christmas song last year, though, so maybe they've done away with that?
If they can't get that this year it is VERY likely that we'll see the return of the Xmas song. |

Yeah, but they were meant to do one. Leona was doing O Holy Hight (I can't remember Ray's). But they changed this at the very last minute coz they were able to get Westlife and Take That to duet with Ray and Leona respectively.

A 3 act final is far more interesting - last year's final with Ray and Leona was dragged out too long and it was boring as everyone knew Leona would win.
A 3 act final is more dramatic as the lowest scoring act gets voted out part way through i.e. double the tension and drama. I expect an SD/Leon/Rhydian final and any one of them could win! |

What's the betting they won't make it a final with only two acts in it?
