Rhydian slams X Factor - from MSN news

Rhydian Roberts has apparently hit out at X Factor, the show that made him famous, saying 'no one cares' about the contestants.

The 24-year-old Welsh opera singer spilled the beans on the final four's treatment off camera just days before the ITV1 talent show's semi-final, reports the Daily Star.

Rhydian is quoted as saying: "Throughout the week all people care about is that they are making a television show. They treat us like absolute s***."

He added: "It doesn't seem to matter that we are all here because we are passionate about music. All they want is footage and drama to fill their show. This show is not all it's cracked up to be."
The blond singer said the acts were not given enough time to practice their songs because of all the filming they have to do for spin-off show the Xtra Factor.

He said: "We were up at 6am to record this stupid thing called X in the City, for Xtra Factor. It's completely s*** and not what I signed up to do."

Well, erm, how do I put this??? Derrrrrrrr!!! But at least he says it. This was I like about Ryds, not scared to say what he thinks.

a) probably not true and
b) I'm sure there'd be something in the contract about xtra factor anyway, if he knows what x factor entails (which I'm sure he would, otherwise why audition?) he should have realised this.

But I dont like xtra factor, I agree with what hes reported to have said that its stupid, at least the x in the city stuff is

Aww Rhydian.

You speak the truth but what else did you really expect?

You are only a bit player in the Pantomime and are there simply to make money for Syco.

In a way,I hope you don't win (although you are streets ahead of the others) because your future doesn't lie with these money-grabbers.

We know so little about these people, we cannot say what they would and would not say. Pop Idol had the right idea on every night, you got to know the acts, their quirks, fears, personalities and some of them shocked us, some were total comedians, others were shy, some were odd, but it all built up an impression of the act you may vote for and I loved it.

X in the City is total crapp in my opinion, shows us nothing of them.

I remember Darius, Will, Gareth, et al at a Spa hotel it was in Ware in Herts and I used to live there, not the hotel you nutters!!! but it was great you got to see them relaxing, chatting, body language started to show, a great insight, what have we got, bare bums, pecs, cooking, running and up and down stairs... boring boring boring.. and cheap skates on X factor to be honest. Bring back Ben and the Friday show, as hell I could not stand *her* on friday as well.. Fern I mean.

I wouldn't want to have to face Fearne Cotton at 6am - she's annoying enough at 9pm at night!

The thing is, depends on how strong willed he is and savvy in song choices.
# Whether he wins or not, one thing Rhydian for sure should do is Remember the way they played with the editing for the sake of sensationalism.
I guess he knows the music business a bit and won't fall short in their hands and accept dreary songs.

Totally different business the one he's been in though. He has stated he wants to sell millions of records and for that to happen he'll need the evil forces of Cowell and his empire behind him. Aiming him at the popera market is a pretty straightforward path well-trodden in recent years, so I wouldn't expect too much dissension from Rhydian.
