mine is sorted now - last box was faulty. This one is sorted. . .

EPG is upto date now. How do you do series link ?

Pleased you got it sorted.

To do series link, select the prog you wish to record then on the next screen that appears there is an option called "Details". Select this and you can now change the various options on the left. The bottom one is series link.

Haven't tried it yet, noticed it last night when setting a prog to record.

edit: By the way, after all the messing about to get the guideplus working and not really getting any benefit from having my additional freeview box hooked up to the recorder, I've switched back to the digital epg.

Good to hear you're up and running
This only applies to the digital epg,not the Guideplus epg.
The Guideplus doesn't have a true series link, all you can do is change the frequency of the recording when using the one button epg recording or to manually set a daily/weekly timer.

Another nail in the coffin then for Guide Plus.

Just need a new TV to replace my Panny 32" CRT. Thanking of the Samsung LE40M87BDX which sounds good.

I've just got a RDR-HXD870 to replace my mother and father-in-laws video recorder.
Set it up today and have got all the digital channels. I set it to use the digital epg, but when I click on guide, its says this is not available. Can anyone tell me what I have done wrong?

Nothing, apart from not reading the instructions!

The EPG is downloaded overnight, so it should be there in the morning - make sure you set the box to standby though.

Just me being stupid then. I use Guide+ at home, which I Know downloads overnight. I thought the digital epg was available almost instantly, as it is with the freeview box I have for the spare room.

I thought it should be available straight away, but Nigel Goodwin was right, it is working today.

It's because it's a PVR, it downloaods the 4TV EPG during the night, and stores in on the HDD.

Thanks for all the tips on this, what appears to be a great machine. The only thing it seems to miss, for me, is, as in the Pace, when watching something on the HDD there is no way of marking (indexing) multiple positions to return to at a later date.
