Was Len genuinely upset tonight?

I did not get Len's attack on Craig. Do you think he was genuinely upset? Or did he want to make himself out as the good cop after having been quite critical of Matt himself?

Len is loosing credibility imo.

He had a goo at Craig for not prefacing his comments with something positive and yet I didn't hear Len say anything positive.

Personally I think Shazza Oz is more convincing and rational - and frankly no less credible - than Len these days.

Len is a prat. No credability left whatsoever

I wonder if he realises how much of an idiot he is when he behaves like as spoilt brat rather than a professional judge. He now has such an inflated ego of himself, and as for his marking, that's more of a joke than he is.

At the end of the day Craig is there to judge and I don't think Len likes having to listen to anyone's opinion but his own

I agreed with Craig tonight

Probably the latter although who knows what goes on inside the head of an SCD judge? Ironically Craig had actually been quite nice tonight, and was not that unkind about Matt's first dance (although he marked very low). Craig was a bit harsh about the second dance - launched right into criticism. In contrast Len went on about Matt's nerves a lot. Len's comments to Matt that his nerves had "done for him" were probably as difficult for Matt to deal with as Craig's more stringent criticism.

Might add that Arlene was the most sensitive in dealing with Matt

i happen to think it works better when craig is being critical, if they were all praising then they would be rubbish judging.

I completely agree. When it happened I just thought, 'oh here we go' it seemed like he'd rehearsed it in his head, he thought I must have a bust up tonight who can I start on. He should just respect Craig and let him speak. He also cut Arlene off when she said she had a little but (she did sort of ask for that, although it shows how much time he spends in the States. bottom is much nicer than butt IMO). He doesn't know whether to be Stalin or Mr Bean !

I thought he was trying to do a Louis Walsh on Strictly, and we all know how far down the pecking order Louis is at X-factor.

He didn't act like a head judge. He should go and work on the bins full time

He likes to say that he only judges fairly but he is biased too. He has been doing a good job of telling all the other judges that they are being unfair, negative and unkind etc---but forgets his own dismissive comments about the other judges.

If they have debriefs, I hope that they'll all lay into him, afterall- he isn't God

Oh, don't be so critical, be more encouraging

After that picture the other week of Len in his dressing gown, I think he should go back to his Hugh Heffner professional lookalikey day job. He's far better at that than judging dancing.

Len might as well tattoo his forehead with "Please like me!"
Everything he ever says is calculated to increase his popularity with the audience and the public.

He has no credibility whatsoever imo.

He was completely out of order in his attack on Craig. Has he forgotten the way he spoke to Kelly?.

Their job is to judge the performance and give an honest critique, not to tell them all how wonderful they are.

Boosting confidence is all very well in the first few weeks but (and I hate to agree with Arlene) this is the quarter finals. If you can't cut it now without being mollycoddled, you shouldn't be there.

I believe that Len was genuinely upset but only because he was moved by Matt's obvious disappointment and upset.
I must say though, I think Len was wrong to have a go at Craig.
Matt did mess up tonight due to the nerves so must be judged on the dance not previous form.

BUT!! I want Matt to stay based on his previous form, not tonight!

Flip flop!!

Personally, I no longer believe in Len as the kind judge. I feel he has been really inconsistent this series. Craig has the advantage over him in at being genuine. Len's attacks on Craig have been as unprovoked as his previous attacks on Kelly and Brendan. Craig is sorry rather than belligerent. I wonder who that was in the audience who said, 'Go on Len'?

Am I the only one who agrees with what Len said? Fair enough he was quite over the top with what he said, but I think the judges shouldn't just list off criticisms like what Craig was doing, they should give both good and bad points - even if there was only 1 or 2 good points they could say.

You can tell that Len & Bruno have been in America too long, they give ten's at the drop of a hat and it annoys me because I don't believe Alesha and Gethin to be SO much better than the likes of Mark Ramprakash, Colin Jackson and Zoe Ball.

There is one thing that annoys me more than anything about Len and there was a good example of it tonight. He says the good stuff to the dancer, then moans when Craig (for example) bring up the bad stuff, shouts him down then says "oh there was the pigeon toe" or whatever. Something which he didn't bring up with the dancer (why not?) but which he then uses to score points off another judge.

He is consistent in doing that at least!
