Nope, I wasn't a fan to start with but he gradually grew on me over the weeks. I still maintain that he is a fantastic dancer, and in my opinion more of a natural than some of the others in the competition. His nerves are his biggest enemy and as someone who have performed countless times (on the piano) in public and have made some nightmarish errors, I do feel for him. I don't think he will get through to the semi final, but I still think he was great - no one else can change that!

He has a lot to be proud of.

No, I still love him, just want him to do well and just want to give him a hug

I think this is just people stirring up trouble while they wait for news but for the record, no, he's a lovely lad - you can't judge someone for being nervous. Clearly Gethin's main problem has been nerves for weeks and weeks, but because they were there from the beginning nobody saw the contrast. I'm sure Matt can pull it together and who knows who will be hit by nerves next week. I think all the celebs and pros are amazing to be working themselves into the ground like this. And Matt has done some of my favourite dances in the whole competition.

No why should I go off him when he's done some great performances over the duration of the series. Tonight was bad and disappointing for so many reasons but I'm not going to stop supporting him when it appears he needs it most.

Matt and Flavias Salsa, AS, Quickstep and Jive are good examples of him performing well - probably at a time when he wasn't thinking ahead to less couples, more dances, more work and more pressure. This things all effect us in different ways - I'm not sure that I could do all that and perform in front of a live telly audience. Matt does need to work on this though especially as the career he wants to follow is performance based - otherwise he will have problems with live shows!

I was never particularly on him but I still think he's a better dancer than Gethin!! He really needs to pull himself together

We (wife & i) don't care for him much

i know he's young but he does tend to sulk (signs of a spoilt child) - this was highlighted tonight when he fluffed a couple of steps

had it not been for Flavia dragging back into the dance (and back to Earth) he would have 'stormed off'

I was just a bit 'eh what?' when he sat down on the steps. I would have to see it again but it made me feel very strange

It was a bit cringeworthy to watch, I think it was the biggest mistake anyone's made on this show.

this thread is soo mean and spiteful...i think matt is lovely and he definitely is not arrogant as some people suggest...he is just passionate about scd,

I dont think Matt is arrogant at all. He's trying very hard to get to that final and putting lots of pressure on himself, his nerves are getting the better of him. For someone of his age and with no previous dance experience he's doing a pretty good job. I know illness was rife through the SCD camp too, may have affected tonights performance? I hope that if he's through to next week he can sort his nerves and show us what he really can do.

Agreed Northern. But he does have dance experience, he went to stage school.

The show is entertainment. If we wanted pure dance perfection we would stick to the pros.
Matt is not arrogant - he tries so hard and is brutal with himself.
Where Flavia kisses him and tells him it is ok at the end is really touching. They are magic!

Definitely NOT.
Matt had a bad day yesterday (horrendous actually) but he'll bounce back I'm sure.
He derserves his place in the semi and can (if he does a top AT next week) make the finals. Hopefully not at the expense of Alesha because she can run rings around Gethin anyday of the week....

Yeah Matt & Flavia

Glad to see that the majority of posters so far on this thread say they have not gone off Matt. He reminds me so much of my son who has to do a lot of public speaking and is always nervous. It doesn't matter how hard you try, or what methods you use to try and overcome this, there will always be occasions when you open your mouth to speak and nothing comes out. And if you do this once, the chances of your doing it next time increase. In the case of my son, he always comes out on top in the end, having completely forgotten there was ever a problem, and leaving a lot of bodies around him who have all worn themselves out with worry. Hope this is the case with Matt

I came very close to voting for him last night and would definitely have voted had Alesha been mathematically safe from the dance off, so I haven't gone off him although I was never "on" him as I have only one favourite. I'll be very cross if he gets to the final at the expense of Alesha, though!

I have switched from Kelly & Brendan to Gethin but I too will be cross if Matt gets to the final at the expense of Alesha. I liked Matt's Salsa but I've never warmed to his personality and I don't think he has been consistent enough.

I don't think that would happen because the judges would vote to keep Alesha in - I feel pretty certain about that. What could throw a spanner in the works is if Matt were to get through then produce the kind of brilliance he's shown signs of being capable of next week. Then it would be anybody's guess.

I agree entirely. Matt on a good night is as good as, if not better than either Gethin or Alesha. Next weeks show will be tough for all concerned i think...Judges included.

I feel the same. I voted for him last night - maybe it was a sympathy vote but it's horrible to see somebody's insecurity cripple to the point that they fall apart.

I'd love Flavia to flirt with Gethin. This Matt chap will totally break down. I'm sure he believes Flavia is in love with him.

I don't think so. I don't think Flavia has shown signs of being romantically interested at all in Matt, and it is just the stupid papers again.

Poor matt, I felt so sorry for him last night, It was clear he had a bit of a breadown, he is only twenty years old, and while he is not my favourite, I think he is a talented dancer and could have been the best if the nerves has been controlled. But last night my heart went out to him and I cant believe people would use his mistakes as a weapon to bash him, he looked deveasted, I really hope him and Flavia pull it out of the bag and do a wow At.
