HXD870 Channel Names
Chris Green
09-12-2007
I've noticed now that I've set up my new HXD870 that the BBC multiplexed channels only show up as D001, 2 etc, whereas ITV ones and even the dross like Dave, QVC and the like show their proper names. I take it that this is something that the BBC do, or rather don't, instead of it being a bug with the Sony.

Right?

Mind you, even this is an improvement over my Topfield 5800, which need to run a TAP (3rd party Application) to get them to show anything other than P001 etc.

Are you using the digital epg or the Guideplus epg?
As the Guideplus epg banner shows the BBC channel names as well as the number. e.g
D001 BBC1

No I'm just using the digital EPG. I've been waiting to run my list of timers down before giving Guide+ a try.

Having switched to the digital epg,to check.
It is strange, that the BBC channels don't display the name on the front panel, when the epg banner, even in digital epg mode, displays the name and the number.

Noticed this on my new HXD770 too. Very odd.

Something else I noticed today, its not all the BBC channels.
Its only BBC1 and BBC 2 only, that are displayed as D001 and D002
BBC News 24
BBC Parliament
BBC Three
BBC Four
CBBC
CBeebies
all display their correct name on the front display.
