Plasma display hoist
The only place to put a TV is in front of my wood burning fire. If I put it on the wall above it will be too high up for long term comfortable viewing.
I'm thinking of installing the TV on a hoist so it can hang in front of the fire most of the time and be lifted up when the fire is in use. I've checked the temperatures and it should be ok with the fire on. I've found a company selling hoists designed for the job but there remains the issue of all the wires.. Google suggests wireless HDMI exists but the boxes appears quite big - too big to hide behind the TV? Is it going to be a pain only having one HDMI cable to the TV? For example what would be the best way to route the output of a freeview box, DVD player and SkyHD reciever to the TV? Use an HDMI switch box? If all the TV sources (Sky, Freeview, DVD etc) are in a cupboard behind the wall is there any need to run speaker cables to/from the TV? Does an HDMI switch box take care of selecting the sound source as well? |

Humm, I had another look and it seems wireless HDMI isn't actually available yet.
