iPod broke..

I think.

The sound on it has started skipping / jumping / stuttering / slowing down as if in slow motion. At first I thought it could be my earphones, so I asked some dude in Currys (would have went to the apple store but I was on my dinner break and this was closer.) He tried it out and said it was the earphones. Idiot is wrong, its not the earphones I've since tried another two pairs and its done exactly the same thing.

I bought it from the apple shop in early September, still got the receipt. Its a 80gb classic so bloody new aswell.

Anyone had this problem? And did they replace it for you? They bloody well better, they're meant to last more than 3 f**king months and I don't have another £160 with it being nearly Christmas

A friend of mine had a problem with an ipod 60Gb- It wouldn't turn on.But when he took it back they had stopped doing the 60, and he got an 80Gb one for no extra charge .Lucky Bast**d. Have you tried formatting it within itunes?Make sure you back up your songs first of course.

I'm not very technical, how do you mean formatting it with itunes ?

And ooh, thats good to hear! Do you know how long he'd had it for though?

Ignore the format. You can't. Basically try the restore to factory setting, after as the previous poster said you've backed everything up. If the restore doesn't work. Take it back to Apple. But I'd do ASAP just in case they get low on stock this time of year.
Apple are obliged to change it as it hasn't lasted within the 12 months guarantee.

Try resetting the actual ipod by holding the menu and the centre button down simultaneously for a few seconds until the screen goes black. The apple icon should then appear and the iPod is then rebooting. You might need to just flick the lock key on and off a couple of times before you hold the buttons down if necessary. If that doesn't work, then use the restore factory settings in iTunes - it's an option in the actual iPod section - the page with the synching options on (a little iPod icon appears when it's plugged in).

Failing that - take it back and get a replacement if it's less than 3 months old. They'll probably want to have a go at repairing it if it's more than 3 months old but, personally, I'd be kicking arse and insisting on a straight replacement.

Repair, not replace. Replacement is at their own discretion.

Yeah sorry I mean restore factory settings(techically a format I should have been more specific). I believe he had it for about 3 months. He bought it from PC world if I recall.
