Probably not, although she would have been a finalist either way. Simon wouldn't have praised her as much, even if Louis or Sharon happened to pick the exact same songs.

She'd have won if mentored by George Bush.

If Sharon got the 16-24s she wouldn't have even put her through. Reason? "She's too good"

You're an idiot if you believe that mentoring even matters. All this "it was the wrong song choice" bollocks, it doesn't mean a damn thing. Leona would have won regardless of who was mentoring her.
Again, if you think the whole mentoring thing is anything more than a token feature to differentiate X Factor from Pop Idol then I'm afraid you're a fool. Look how Simon is with Rhydian. He doesn't care that it's not his act, he pretty much wants him to win. |

George W Bush offered Leona Lewis his commiserations for missing out on the Formula 1 championship.
How did she reply? 'Amaayyyzziinnggg'.

Let's be honest, as soon as Simon sees someone is marketable, has a chance to win and can make him money he'll give up any criticism no matter who they are mentored by.
As he wouldn'rt criticise Leona last year it's the same this year with Rhydian who is clearly the best, deserves to win, but has been far from faultless in recent performances. |

I think she would have won irrespective of whether she'd been managed by Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne or Mr Blobby.
Of course, she would have had the most difficult task with Osbourne, who's track record on the show is nothing short of abysmal. Yet I'm 100% convinced she would still have won. She was, and still is, the best talent that has emerged from Reality TV, and, particularly in the UK, she is miles ahead of anyone else. |

Simon makes money whoever wins.
As much as having his act be the winner will boost his ego, in the end he's looking for someone who can be a real star and shift a lot of records. Leona is so talented I'm certain Simon would have started backing her to win (as he's doing with Rhydian now IMO) even if she wasn't his act. |

She was deffo the best last year and still is the best ever contestant on the show, shes really successful now so it shows people still love her!! |

Yup she still would have won for sure. Shayne won with Louis who we all know sucks so that proves it was down to him and his talent and not his mentor. Same would apply to Leona IMO.

Her voice is what won her the show not her mentor, cant see what that even has to do with it!

I think that is a ludicrous statement are you telling me that Same Difference would have been in the final if they had mentored by Louis, Simon would have destroyed them and the public seem to listen to Cowell for some reason. |

If Leona wasn't in Simon's category, I still think she would've won. I loved her voice and I think she's a really lovely girl and that would have come through no matter who mentored her or whatever songs she was given. In fact, I think Leona could have had even more supporters than she actually did because Simon probably wouldn't have raved about her like he did and I think that was a reason why a few people were strongly against her. But then again, he probably would've bigged her up like he is Rhydian this year, because he makes money of the winner no matter what so he might as well back the best possible winner. I'm sure he would've been eager to sign her up after the show. |

Yes. It would have been very hard to go wrong in mentoring her. Simon would still have praised her, just as he has with Rhydian this year and with Shayne in series 2 (most criticisms were aimed at Louis' poor management of him ... which Cowell went on to replicate on Shayne's first album
