I'm looking for some suggestions on a new home cinema system.
My current system is one of the first home cinema systems in one box, the Sony DAV-S300. I'd like to replace it with something similar, i.e. a one box system.
The only thing I real think that I want is a digital optical input(?) so that I can connect my Sky HD box and presumably decode Sky's output into 5.1 surround sound.
Not worried about HDMI output or upscaling as my TV only has 1 HDMI slot and the current DAV-S300 doesn't even have a proper SCART connection, so I figure anything is going to be an improvement.

Does anybody have some suggestions for me, please.

You're right to be concerned about connectivity - one box solutions are notoriously ill equipped in this area.

Try and get at least to digital audio inputs and a couple of other auxilliary audio phono slots.

In fact, a dedicated amp is so much more versatile, you'll appreciate this in the long run.
