hi i have just bought a Hannspree JT01-32E2-000G and i have a little issue with it, when plugged in through scart from my LOGIK PVR, everytime i change channel on the digi box, the screen goes off then SCART 1 Appears on the top right of the screen, then that dissappears and then my Picture appears, this takes maybe 4 or 5 seconds, and is slightly annoying.

Could this be something to do with screen format? Because when i plug in my Cheap Durabrand PVR through scart, the TV only does the above when i change channel to a non widescreen channel, but when its standard widescreen it changes channel without any loss of picture.

If that is the case, how do i either force the TV into 16:9 or to stop the LOGIK box from telling the TV everytime i change channel to refresh itself in terms of picture mode(widescreen or Normal).

hope this post makes sense.

check you have you set your digibox tv type settings for your new tv, to 16:9 format, then pull out the aerial on the digibox for a few seconds, and push it back in.. does this clear the problem? also does your digibox have an rgb output? if it does, you might want to choose that setting.. but check that scart one on your tv accepts the rgb input..

Set the widescreen mode on the TV to full rather than auto

Which does mean that he'll be forced to watch in fattyvision when the programme is 4:3. It's a bit like chopping off your leg because it itches.

Although he did suggest in his post that this would be acceptable, I just find it strange how some people are not interested in picture quality.

Indeed it does but you get used to fatty vision, you don't get used to it flicking and pissing about every time you switch channel

As for
"I just find it strange how some people are not interested in picture quality."
well watching freeview on an LCD telly makes sure you don't have any quality anyway lets be honest.

I could never get used to a distorted picture but when I change channel I don't really care what the picture does because I'm changing channel.

Can't really argue to much with that.

I have the 37" version of the TV howley20 has and if the flicker was just a quick readjust then fair enough but unfortunately it isn't, and it makes running up and down the channels nearly impossible cos it drives you bonkers.

On the odd chance of getting something not in widescreen and you intend on sitting and watching it for sometime then i find it easier to manually select back to 4:3

If it's that annoying I'd probably do the same - I do watch quite a lot of 4:3 though.

You could try disabling pin 8 in the SCART (At the T.V. end, mind!), this is a age old trick that work's with many anoying problem's & qurik's that a T.V. may have. Example I had a Sharp LCD that even when you set the widescreen mode to "Full", would reset to a 4.3 display when you landed on 4.3 program/channel (Discovery Wing's (Now "Turbo") was 4.3 channel that I enjoyed but got p*ssed off with because of this!) This prompted me to get of my lazey a*se and do the mod, I got a good enough quality SCART, unsrewed the cuff where the cable enter's the plug, slid the cuff back, put my finger nail's between the seem of the plug, opened it up like a book, located pin 8 cut away about a cm of wire, then "Sealed" the cut end with a crimp on insulator (But good Insulating tape would do the trick!), I then shut & resealed the plug, labeled this end with some blue tape just underneth the collar (In case I had to move the T.V. in the future, etc) connected the SCART and job done! No more jumping back to 4.3 when landing on a 4.3 channel/program, so widescreen was still that, & 4.3 filled out just the same, but not in the fatty dwarf style you speak of as the unit didn't just fill with the whole screen, it added the black bars aswell as stretching the image to avoid this. Best thing you can do in a spare hour!

That seems a good idea, as everytime i switch the tv off, it reverts itself back to auto, this would be a good permanant fix, just a little question how do you know what PIN 8 is, does it have a number inside the scart?
