Is he really staying on as the doctor, if that is true, then I am really happy as I love him

All we know is what we've known for some time.

That it's been announced that he will be the Doctor up to and including the 3 specials in 2009.

After that who knows.

The title of the thread is misleading.

+1 on that, but not as a companion. Just having Frobisher cross over in some way into the TV series would be lovely.

This from Outpost Gallifrey:

Georgia Moffett, daughter of Fifth Doctor Peter Davison, will be appearing in Series Four, according to Executive Producer Phil Collinson.

"Fans might recognise that name...but that's not why we cast her. She's a very fine actor."

Georgia originally auditioned for a role in the Agatha Christie episode. "But as soon as we saw her," Collinson told Doctor Who Magazine, "we realised there was a much bigger and better part later on in the series...so Georgia kindly waited until the time was right. It's a role no one will ever forget!"

New companion anyone?!

At least I'm not the only one failing to give due deference to the press release -

Seems unlikely, given that we know that there's Donna, Martha and Rose as companions already.

Tennant said last week that he's too self-centered to let anyone else play The Doctor and he'll be back, after a break, in 2009.

Well Donna's only doing the one series, Rose is only back for 3 episodes, and as for Martha- she's only back for a bit for a few too- so they may want to introduce a brand new companion at the end of this series for 2009/10....

Or an old one.

Could be a regenerated Romana or even Susan (The Doctors Daughter playing the Doctors Grandaughter )

I vote for a regenerated Romana! (Perhaps Donna could be a fobwatched Romana )

Aint gonna happen though, not while RTD is calling the shots anyway, we are just gonna have modern-day humans with families. Also he wouldn't want to undermine Rose (more commonly known as Rusty's self-insert) and her speshal companion status, by bringing back a companion who is quite clearly better

None of which indicates that Georgia Moffett, who is appearing in the 4th series, will be a new companion.

New companion anyone?!”

I don't think so.

I believe her episode is mid series. Possibly before the Agatha Christie episode infact (just that episode was filmed first). She might be back later but I think people might be reading too much into the 'no-one will ever forget' comment and she's just gonna play a memorable role in her one episode.

I also actually think the comments suggest she's gonna play some weird and outrageous alien or someone who comes to some out there sticky end than her being Romana or Susan.

As for whether one of the established companions will continue into the specials I think Martha is the only possibility. Like mentioned Catherine has said she's there for the one series and it's increasingly looking like Rose is back for just the one episode as opposed to the rumoured three and I believe David has said they don't actually meet.

They might just do the guest companion thing though.

What I believe what I'm saying is "her leaving at the end of series 3 was planned from the start". That's the reason I used those words in that order.

According to who?

So why did you say that this would only be the case "with any luck"? If you're that sure, why hedge your bets?

And yet, mysteriously, she's not only coming back to the franchise but is also going to be in the spin-off show. She blew it so badly that they asked her to come back twice. Imagine if she'd been even worse, she might have got a guest spot on The Sarah Jane Adventures, too.

Hasn't it occurred to you that if the production team didn't want her around that they might have actually got rid of her? Or do you think she's got some photos of RTD in compromising positions or something?”

Freema does appear to get such a bad press. No one seemd to be saying these things about John Barrowman when he went off to Torchwood that he had been "relegated" or the likes. And like JB, it has been confirmed that Martha is coming back!
