iPod Touch Web Apps.

Hey guys . . .there are webapp games that you can readily download off the web.

If I were to download a game can I play it without the internet connection? (i.e do the Applications just use the technology in the browser to function or do the actually require an internet connection which therefore very quickly wastes your battery.)

Thanks

Web Apps you have to be online. However - if you 'hack' your ipod touch then you can download a whole bunch of games and applications which you do not need a connection for once downloaded.

When February comes, apple will be releasing their own SDK for applications to download to your ipod - so expect an update and a whole host of applications to appear not too long after.

I use my touch connected to the wifi almost all the time, and battery life is pretty good, better than you'd think. I charge it in the car for an hour in the morning and use it at work for music, video, email and internet. The battery is usually at least 3/4 full after 10 hours. Then charge it in the car again for an hour.
Its a great gadget, especially if you've got easy wifi access.

Why is it disappointing to have to be online to use a web application? Isn't that like being upset that you have to have your TV on to watch a programme?

Probably from early next year people will start producing games and other applications as a development kit is being released. I would imagine that once done, things will flow quite quickly.

It's disappointing in that it could be done by saving the web app to the memory and then simply using Safari as an offline application to run the saved data.
