Hi,

I have just bought a Panasonic plasma tv and Panasonic Home cinema system. I planned to connect them to my existing Pace digibox and VCR/DVD player combo via SCART leads but a friend said that he used a HDMI cable to connect to the TV, rather than a SCART as this gives a better quality picture. Could I do this?

Many Thanks

Paul

Not unless they have HDMI sockets on them, and neither of those probably do? (the Pace certainly doesn't). However, with a good quality TV like your Panasonic, HDMI will be very little (if any) better than RGB SCART for SD signals. In any case, your VCR can't do RGB either, and will be pretty naff however you connect it - but it needs to be RGB SCART for using your DVD, or Component if it has it?.

The Panny home cinema may have HDMI out, this might be worth trying with the HDMI in on the plasma.

a little later, the OP will no doubt want to know how to connect up all other boxes to get a great sound and the connectivity will turn out to be like most one box systems.................lacking.
