Best portable device for accessing the web on the move?

What's the best portable device for accessing the web on the move?

I've found these but I can't decide which to go for:

Pocket Surfer 2

Nokia N800 Internet tablet

Asus Eee PC

Which would you go for and why?

psp slim - - big 3inch screen plays games, snes/md emulators, plays mp3, mpg 4 videos, slideshows, and sufs the net - very good browser - can be bit slow and fiddily but still very easy to turn on and use. - has issues connecting to free wireless networks other than my own sky broadband connection. is £130 with a game i think (can sell game) so around £120 brand new.

dont know about the others, but they sound more expensive?/

Im guessing the iPhone would be better than any of those.

The Linsar is supposed to be very good.

The compression they use on the pages at server end apparently gives very good speeds while using GPRS to retain excellent coverage.

A proper keyboard is always going to better than the virtual one on the iPhone.

Have looked at the Linsar myself. Price is reasonable, screen looks good, coverage is superb. Main downside is the lack of internal or additional memory so you can't actually install anything extra. Won't be able to stream video or anything with it either .... it's a surf only device.

If thats what you want though, it's very good.

Dunno about the other two though.

Had a quick look at the other two ....

The Nokia - looks nice. Vrtual keyboard would drive me nuts though.

The Asus - On the basis of their annoying website alone, I wouldn't buy one.

Others you might want to consider:

Archos 605 Wi-Fi
Cowon Q5 (not available in the Uk yet though)

Both quite a bit more expensive than the three you listed though. (As is the iPhone by the time you take all the contract costs into account)

No, the Archos 605 WIFI needs a nearby Wireless Network. It cannot surf the Net on the move without one.

If it was me I'd be going Nokia, but the new N810 rather than the 800. Slide out keyboard + GPS make it an easy choice for me, despite the extra cost. Number 2 on my list would be the Asus.

Another option might be an iPod Touch - an iPhone without the camera and phone bits, but still has wifi and all the other features.

I know.

Same with the Q5.

The OP didn't mention that they wanted a constant connection (ie. GPRS etc) ......

I think I read somewhere with extra kit you could attach a bluetooth dongle & use a nearby mobile too.

Palm Treo 750, or a laptop with a data card.

I meant the N810 in my OP - not the N800.

I just want something light to be able to surf the web in bed/on a train/in a car with.

The Pocket Surfer looks good because you can surf straight out of the box but is it too expensive for what it is?

I mean, you can't:

- Download pages for offline use.

- Listen to music/hear sound on it.

- Print pages from it.

You can do all these with the Asus Eee PC and more for only £70 more.

Yeah and I hear they throw in the "I'm a geek please mock me" t-shirt for free

Seriously, the Asus is not a cool device and you should only get one if you are calling at peoples houses to read their meter.

Get the Treo 750. It does everything you could need (I'm assuming you have a pc at home anyway) and resembles a crackberry so you can pretend you are some successful office type from the city.

... but apart from that it is perfect to access the web on the move right?
