Panasonic 58PZ700
I was thinking of getting a 58PZ700 but I saw one in John Lewis today and it was very poor compared to other panels on display - No shades of black in black areas and I thought this was the strong point of plasma?
It seems their 58 inch models have only 5000:1 contrast whereas the smaller 50PZ70B has 10000:1. Both are 1080 sets. I want to find another 58PZ700 to look at but are there other panels around 50-58" should I be looking at as well? |

Thanks, I see in the mags that Panasonic have a new one out (on the way?)...the 50/58 PZ750U. Perhaps that will be better.

Won't be better than a Pioneer, but whatever floats your boat.

10.000-1 contrast ratio on the 58pz700. Did you originally see the setup of the tv. This might explain the picture. Having compared it direct to the 50" (which is 5000-1 http://www.panasonic.co.uk/plasma-tv...0cab/index.htm) I'd say its better. |

That page has errors. It does say ...
"Max. 10,000 : 1 Contrast" but lower down in the table it says.. "Contrast Ratio Max. 5,000:1" So which is it

I went back to JL and noticed that this particular PZ700 was special offer "display model only". Perhaps not a grade A panel?. I must find another sample to look at.
