Though their release was announced a a few months back, I see that some dealers are now taking orders for the new Denon Blu-ray players out in Spring 2008.

There are two offerings named DVD-2500BT & DVD-3800BD, priced at £999 and £1399 respectively. Not that cheap! These will support Profile 1.1 Blu-ray and be backwards compatible with DVD and CD formats. Video output will be through HDMI (1.3a) only.

Blu-ray.com - The main difference between the two players is that the DVD-3800BD does internal decoding of the audio, while the DVD-2500BT only supports output of the HD audio bitstream to an external decoder. They come equiped with the Realta HQV video processor for deinterlacing and upconversion of standard definition to HD.

I own a Denon DVD player, nice bit of kit and at a time when probably 90% of players were cheaper I didn't mind paying a little extra but come on those prices are ridiculous, lets hope it at least performs better than the PS3

They'll probably be the best Blu-ray players at the time of their release. Great news if your budget stretches that far.

I'd be hoping for astonishing SACD play back as well, at that price.
