Thanks to Richard 1960 who gave me the telephone number of Swisstec I have today made contact.

Their opinion is, if I send them £40-00 they will fetch the TV and then let me know how much to repair as they could not possibly estimate. I asked about the fit for use as it had only been used for approx., 3 hrs, they said faults can occur with so many parts in an item basically.

I have since rung the repairer locally and given him the phone number as they said they were willing to help him with data and spares which obviously I will have to pay for I have stated I do not want an uneconomical repair as I would be better off saving up that money and starting again. Many thanks everyone for your help.
