Well if you remember in the first episode of Eccleston's episodes, he is shown on the titanic in a photo by the Mark benton character. So could Mr tennant bump into his former incarnation in VoyageOf The Damned?

Again, would be fantastic but we would all know about it by now.

He's not actually shown on the Titanic, but with a family who were going to board it. He apparently warned them not to. However he does make a vague reference to the Titanic in 'The End Of The World' and says he ended up clinging to an iceberg, though that could have been an earlier incarnation.

It doesn't matter anyway as the Titanic in VOTD is a spaceship and not the original.

I assumed VOTD is set on the doomed ship in 1912. also assumed this would be the first Christmas Special that
A) Isnt set at Christmas
B) Isnt set in the present

C) Isnt taking place in Cardiff, London or anywhere else on earth
D) Isnt going to have pilot fish Santa Claus's bearing trumpets

and amen to that!

I get the impression that Eccleston has tried to distance himself from Doctor Who and would never be willing to return even for a few seconds long cameo. Didn't he leave because he wanted to avoid typecasting?

One day we'll find out the real story of why CE left after one series. I certainly don't think we've heard it yet!
Maybe when the Autobiog gets written.....

I don't either. I think a lot more went on that lead to him quitting so soon than we'll ever know about. It's going to be one of those great mysteries of life.

Eccleston mentioned shortly after he left that he was unhappy with the way he was treated by the BBC. He's never elaborated on it since but I'm sure ther's a lot more to tell.

If it's true that it was related to how he was treated by the BBC then it speaks volumes for CE's character that he didn't feel he had to put his side of the story. I'd still like to know what it was because I like a lot of others felt disappointed and short-changed when he left.

In novels, audio's etc other Doctors have believed to been on the titanic. But that's canon, in the actual tv series I'm just waiting to see how they come across them mentions of being on the titanic throughout old and new series.

Eccleston was only originally set to do two series' of 6 episodes each (which is how they were going to do it at first) but when it was changed to one series of 13 he just did his alotted episodes and left. Although they supposedly shot a few endings, one which would have left it open for his return instead of a regeneration, another in case the show didn't even get a second series.

There have been too many rumours of why he left. Reasons haven't been given because it's personal to Eccleston. They admitted the whole 'typecasting' thing was complete bollocks, just a reason to give to people. Though maybe he didn't realise how big the show was going to be.

I dunno. I read rumours on the og a few months back- around the time CE told the daily record "I am very fond of doctor who", his first comment on the matter since leaving- saying he and RTD were not even on speaking terms towards the end. One of life's great mysteries, to be sure.

I think it's a shame if he and RTD aren't on speaking terms, since the first series was the best one too date IMO, and Second Coming (another RTD/CE project) was amazing.

If you think about the situation from the perspective of an 'regular' job like mine and yours (!), then your current employer telling all the clients, suppliers etc that you're leaving (and for false reasons) before you've had a change to explain it yourself is pretty shit behaviour. In the context of acting (and when integrity and reliability must be one of the fundamental requirements in what seems to me to be a fickle business), then the BBC really did **** it up as the press release could damaging to his career.

I think it's a real shame - I've always thought that Christopher Eccleston, along with his contemporaries such as Ewan McGregor, Daniel Craig stand head and shoulders above other actors in terms of talent and I hope that whatever this problem is, doesn't prevent him from returning to the small screen. Ultimately it's all the fans that he found through Doctor Who who are being short changed at the moment, and that's sad.

And yeah, I wish he was returning for a cameo... or entire series 5,6,7,8....
