Hi,
three of us are having ipod nano's at xmas
trouble is only one of us has a pc that can use itunes others have me told you carn't use this system

Question is can three diff ipods use itunes to download CDs from same pc ?
Or is there another way round it, (not sure if I really fancy them using my laptop) will if there's no other way though.

thanks in advance

You can run as many ipods as you want. I have My Main ipod which syncs all songs. Then I have two other ipods which only sync certain playlists EG "Touch Dance" "Touch Chill Out". So playlists are the way around it. The main itunes holder can untick songs if he isnt into Kylie and Jason that you want etc

If you have multiple accounts on the pc, you would have different libraries, so I'd have thought that would be a way round it too.

You have two options really:

In Windows, you can create a different account on the same computer for each person. This way your music will be kept separate.

Alternatively, you can have one library and create a playlist for each iPod to choose which songs go on which iPod.

The following page on the Apple website describes these options, plus a third which I think could get quite confusing:

I found the easist way was to have different playlists for each ipod. (Dont worry this will not affect they way in which the music is played back) Other wise if you go for more than one itunes library you may end up haveing the same song on your computer muiltipal times, and also you have to ensure you select the correct library each time you sync your ipod.

in Windows, iTunes will put the music into a folder somewhere in My Documents. So if you have multiple accounts the answer is simple. Put all of the music in a different shared folder and then open ITunes and point to this folder. On a Mac it is in Preferenes>Advanced. This way you will only have one copy of each track. If you all share the same library and account you can only really use a playlist or click on manually manage music when the iPod is attached and simply drag the music you want onto it.
