Great trailer (gone all goosebumpy thinking about it). Hope the show lives up to it...

Russell Davies wrote it, and he isn't a great writer (some of the worst episodes of the series were written by him, the end of series 3 were the only good ones he's managed) so lets hope he's improved.

Too be honest it looks a bit naff, the angels look like golden cybermen and it looks like their only edge is that they can throw halos lol.

I think that looks quite promising from the trailer.

My hopes aren't high for the Christmas Special, as I didn't really like the last two, even tho' I concede they were quite fun, action-driven romps.

I dunno - I just didn't really find them all that satisfying.

Still, I wouldn't miss a Who special for the world.

Cypher

I think they are thinking that they want to show us how they can do a special properly so we know the 2009 specials will kick serious butt

It can be seen by pressing the Red Button on BBC interactive.

Forget YouTube ... see it here (uploaded by me to the vastly superior Veoh.com) instead!

YouTube is like ... sooooo overrated!

am exercising cautious optimism as i can hardly proclaim it is going to be amazing based on a few trailers. proof of the pudding is always in the tasting I say. I have found in the past when I have been to the flicks to see something based on what I saw in a trailer that I have ended up disappointed in the full feature.

of course I am excited at the prospect of a new story but will reserve judgement until I have seen it.

It reminded me of The Poseidon Adventure - the Gene Hackman version. So who gets to play Shelley Winters?

Debbie Chazen looks like she has the *COUGH* "right sort of shape" to be the one in that role.

Thanks for the heads up,

Anyone with Freeview, Virgin TV or Sky can press red on a BBC television channel and select 'Doctor Who Preview' from the menu to watch it.

Or, if you've got Freeview, it's on channel 301. No need to "Press Red" . . .

Someone wrote (crayoned?) in to the Teletext TV comments page to say that they thought it was "sick" because it featured a cruise aboard the Titanic.

I just don't get that on so many levels:

1) The Titanic wasn't a cruise ship
2) The story is CLEARLY set aboard a spaceship
3) The Titanic story has been filmed at least 4 times and featured in numerous TV series - how is it sick to feature it in Dr Who?

Am I missing something here?

"sick" is an (annoying) American phrase now used to mean "cool". It's catching on in the UK. I think it's ridiculous though.

Perhaps they meant it in that context?

That does make a weird kind of sense.
