Does anyone have a firmware update or a hack to make the Sony BDP 300 Bu Ray DVD player region free.

I have updated the player firmware to (330)

If not I will be stuck with two Dvd players

Many thanks

Hello,

I have a region B(2) Sony BDP-S300 and I would love region free or Region A(1).

If I updated my DVD using the US firmware update, would I have a region A player?

I know there is a code to make this player region free but I cannot find it - yet! Also there is a hardware upgrade here but its €150...

I bought this BD player to watch LOST series 3 on HD....sadly only available in the US.....why is this??

Nope, more than likely the player would refuse to recognise the disc or server.

There may be a code for DVD region changing but not for Blu-ray regions, if there was then rather pointless selling a hardware modification. The DVD hardware region modding died a death once remote hacks for DVD entered the market.

The US is a larger market so can support a smallish production run of an expensive blu-ray boxset not to mention limited pressing plants for Blu-ray globally.
