Can I damage a DVD recorder by putting speakers next to it ?

Hi all,

My DVD recorder is on a large MDF shelf.

I would like to attach my front surround speakers to the underside of the shelf using heavy duty velcro. At the moment they are sitting on top of the television, which isn't the best arrangement.

Can I damage a DVD recorder by putting speakers next to it ?

Many thanks,

Steve.

Unlikely, the vibration might possibly cause the disc to skip but you'll probably be ok. If your TV is undamaged by the speakers they must be shielded so the chances of them affecting your DVD are very slim.

Thanks for the reply. The speakers do affect the picture slightly - there is a faint patch of colour of the screen which disappears if I move the speakers.

The speakers were bought a few years ago and are budget Goodmans ones so I would be surprised if they are shielded, unless of course this feature is common on budget models.

The DVD is a recorder. If there is a moderate or high risk of vibration causing failed recordings then I might choose another option. The shelf is made of MDF about 15mm to 20mm thick and is very stable.

Thanks again,

Steve.

Definitely move the speakers, you are very likely to damage your TV.

speakers have to be 1 metre from telly if unshielded

also you will get a better definitoin of sound coming from either left or right as intended
