Hi all

Just added a DVD Recorder to my TV set which is as follows

Samsung LCD TV with 2 scarts (AV and RGB)
Sky+ box with 2 scarts TV out and Video out
ONN DVD Recorder, 2 scarts (scart in and scart out)
Philips DVD player
Do not have an aerial connection just the sky connection
I dont seem to be able to switch between DVD recorder and Sky without switching of the DVD recorder! when I turn the DVD recorder on I lose my Sky

Should I be able to tune the DVD recorder into a Sky channel?

I dont have an aerial for terrestial TV just a scart connection for Sky

Help please

OR................
Sky TV scart ---> DVDR AV1
DVDR AV2 ---> TV AV1
DVD player ---> TV AV2

You can then watch a DVD while archiving from Sky+ to DVDR (I guess this is why you bought the DVDR as Sky+ must take care of 99.9% of your record/timeshift requirements.

or...

I believe there is a wire in the scart standard that controls automatic switching. Find that, cut the wire in the scart lead and the DVD shouldn't "take over" automatically.

the issue here is one of 'pass-through' of the Sky signal.

Using my recommended set up, when you have the DVDR in standby, the sky signal goes directly through it to the TV - when you have the DVDR 'on', you must ensure that the input channel is set to AV2 so that the DVDR is showing the TV the device connected to it's (the DVDR) own input scart ie the Sky box.

Some recorders have further quirks re pass-through when recording 'off-air' or in timer mode.

As your Sky+ will accommodate virtually all of your timeshift recording requirements, this may not be an issue for you.
