Which shows a fundamental flaw in the theory that the person with the most votes is the most popular and that popularity in that sense should prevail over the judges.
Of course, you can define "popularity" as "most votes" when multiple voting is involved, but that's not how people normally think. Instead, it's tacitly assumed that the winner had more people voting for them: that, if the involvement of multiple voting is remembered at all, it's similar enough for all of the contestants who matter that it doesn't make any difference to the result.
But what if
twice as many people supported one of the losers in the public vote? Or 3 or 4 or 5 or more times as many people?
Surely SCD's not supposed to be about who has the most fanatical or deep-pocketed supporters!
Of course, the same applies to Matt being saved last week and to other results, since multiple voting might be what determined them.
