I'm a keen EE fan and can confirm Deano is very unpopular with viewers - on the forums at least. Can't stand the character myself and was pleasantly surprised to discover on SCD that Matt is so nice and so different

Sorry - not all Gethin fans. But the bashings I've had from 'some' Gethin fans has been quite disturbing.

Sometimes I think I must live in a totally different world to some people on here, I've never seen such bitterness and spite in all my life - maybe I lived a sheltered one

Personally I think that they've been a bit miffed at how the public have turned the show into a popularity contest. They (rightly in my opinion) objected to having to vote either Gaby or Penny off far earlier than their abilities deserved, Kate Garraway was kept in for weeks by her GMTV viewers even though it was clear that she didn't have even a smidgeon of dancing talent. Then Matt got a sympathy lifeline last week despite messing up both his routines.

I'm not saying that they've engineered Matt getting into the final to make it easier for Alesha but I suspect that in their heart of hearts most (if not all of them) would like to see her win based on the consistently high standard of her performances.

My own theory on last night's show and the overly high scoring/one man standing ovation for Matt was that they were partially attempting to rebuild his confidence and stop him from completely falling apart due to nerves. However they went too far and once he ended up in the dance-off it was difficult for the judges to reverse their comments of the previous night and thus kick him out.

Thanks Rita! ... haven't watched EE in years, but have seen a couple of episodes this year on Three while waiting for spooks ... seems to be a whole slew of new characters that I know absolutely nothing about! ... hope Matt sees some improvement in the way he's treated!

Well I've just regained consciousness from watching (didn't cheat this time). Apart from being pleased that Matt&Flav got through I was a little surprised at the overmarking of Alesha, especially in light of some of the judge's comments. Her AT left me cold.

Unfortunately whatever job Matt is doing he seems to take a disproportionate pasting for it....

Have you noticed that last week he got slated for escaping the dance-off. Numerous posters said they wouldn't have minded him getting through if he'd earned his place. This week he did the dance-off, got through and that's apparently not fair either! Now the judges are useless, it's fixed or whatever, and it should have been down to the public vote, which it was last week. We're going round in circles here.

I'd noticed ... really can't see that he deserves any of the backlash he's getting for making the final though ... there seem to be some really bitter people out there, and I just can't work out why ... they also seem to be unfairly getting Gethin and Alesha fans a bad name ... I think I'll stick to the "Alesha and Matt D fans Unite" type threads till next week ... it's just all too much!

First the negatives.
Tess' dress WTF was that meant to be
Didn't like the kids doing the jive, just something wrong about children masquerading as sexy dancers hit a wrong note with me. Sorry if that offends anyone.
The show dance - thought I was watching the wrong show. Was a circus act. Very clever but Kenny put more dancing into his routines.
Pro dancers were excellent.
James Blunt - OK I suppose.
Dance off - mixed feelings as I like Matt and Gethin. The judges really need to make up their minds if they are saving couples on the quality of the dance off dance, potential, what's happened before or the celebrity's star sign.
Reactions - no complaints about any of them. Emotions were running very high, relief must have been the overwhelming emotion for Alesha and then Matt. Camilla also had quite a job containing her emotions. I can't see how any of them can be condemned, had they shown no emotion then maybe there would be some justification for moaning.
Gethin an absolute star and a total gentleman. Sad indeed to see him go, but I'd have been equally sad to see Matt go.

On to the final and may the best couple on the night win.

In the dance off I thought the judges had to vote on that dance only, yet Len made a comment about potential.

Good gymnastics.

The pros dancing the jive were great, liked the steps they choreographed. Wasn't keen on the kids routine. The scooters were cute but I was more impressed by the dance from the kids last year.
I really enjoyed Hanna in the exhibition dance, the movement was just amazing.
James Blunt and the rumba. Nice lifts but wasn't keen on the rest of the routine. I liked the costumes, Erin wears that same style on the SCD exercise video.

It may look better live than on TV but there was a advert for the Moscow State circus that looked almost identical. I preferred last years with the leopard leotard. It had more groundwork by the woman.

Personally I had hoped for a Gethin/Alesha final. Matt can, and has, danced brilliantly. Equally he fell apart in a way I cannot remember anyone else doing and got through purely on sympathy.Im not knocking him for that,its a very human thing, but Gethin was far more consistant over the weeks.

My thoughts:

The kiddies' dance was cute but went on for absolutely ages.

The dance from Victor and Hanna, to me, was superb but felt more like gymnastics than a real dance. It felt as though the woman was a thing that was being tossed up and down by the man - it just didn't have enough steps for me to think of it as dancing. Very showy though.

Alesha's reaction was very sweet as she obviously didn't expect it. I was very pleased for her!

The dance-off: I didn't think much of Gethin's AT routine but I thought he was really absorbed in the dance and he carried off the mood very well. Matt had a brilliant routine, although I could sense him being nervous, so both had good and bad points. I wouldn't have wanted to choose in the judges' position! Was a bit disappointed in Matt for not showing more tact for Gethin, but I agree that emotions were probably running very high and it's understandable being too relieved/shocked/excited/stunned for that.

Gethin was such a gentleman when he went out and I admire him for being so gracious about it, on par with Tish's graciousness! Camilla looked like she was going to cry and for the first time in the series I warmed to her more.

All in all, my final thought is that it's such a shame it isn't a three person final.

I think the comments about kicking Gethin out so Alesha will win are a bit silly, Matt has just as much of chance of winning next week. Even though I don't agree with the scores I thought the leader board was right on Saturday.

What was up with Arlene's comment to Alesha? If she's fooled everyone into thinking she's a good dancer then she must have fooled Arlene too since she was the first one to give her a 10. And why save Gethin in the dance off when she'd already given Matt a 10 for that same dance.
