What annoys people is Matt going into meltdown for two weeks on the spin-and being saved by the public. Look at his week when he did the foxtrot and the Samba- poor performances-compared to Tish-what happens Matt's fans feel sorry for him and vote for him

that would be the week where he only scored 32 for his tango and 33 for his rhumba - pathetically low marks

His Tango wasn't too hot either, and what about that skipping around in his PD.

You and me differ on this but that happens. PM for you x

I know I was being sarcastic by saying they were low marks. I find it laughable that doing 2 dances which scored that high are being used as evidence that Matt screwed up

Tissy, I believe this is because Len played a large part in encouraging Matt fans into an airlift rescue. Alesha lost steps in several dances but covered up with ease.

First Bruno going OTT, then Len making a big song-and-dance turned a drama into a circus and fullscale meltdown, not least pulverising Matt. Craig spoke, and Len interrupted Craig, the situation was touch-and-go whether Len was going to get up and walk out. Had Len handled it with cool like Craig did, the situation would not have been perceived as anything worse than what it was -- losing a few steps towards the end, which could have happened to anybody, it did happen to Alesha.

The audience was disappointed by an aborted dance, but they were traumatised by Len's handling of the crisis. I hope this is a fair and measured reply to your question. Alesha may have gained, but SCD has lost and so have the audience. I believe we are headed for a one-horse Final, more a funeral for many than an exciting Final.

It was hardly a meltdown though was it? Solid scores and the second highest score ever for a male Rhumba. The skipping in the paso looked like part of his dance to me. I will grant you one week meltdown, but not two.

Will reply to your pm later am at work atm and need to have a think!

What on earth does Alesha have to do with this thread

How have the audience lost ?

Matt D earned his place in the final by producing some excellent dancing on Saturday didnt he ?

Honestly, as a complete neutral this year, I support neither Matt/Gethin or Alesha, haven't voted for anyone at this point, I can honestly say that, on his day and on form, Matt comes across as the better, natural dancer*. Gethin improved tremendously, and did get the character of the dances towards the end, but I seriously think Matt was a better dancer.

I don't deny the waltz was overmarked, but it was lovely and well executed by Matt, but Gethin's paso was not that pleasant to watch, (I can't really comment on Gethin's AT as the horror of Camilla's dress completely distracted me).

*Obviously the above is just my opinion, but hey, that's the point of forums like these

Which was also overmarked by Len.

I wish it was as simple as this.

Matt was carried into the final by the judges' favouritism. His comeback was great and praise well-deserved, but the OTT hysterical gushing directed at him was so transparent even a child could see through it.

THIS is why the audience has lost - the judges have fixed who they wanted in the final (their revenge for last year when Emma Bunton didn't make it - or them guaranteeing that at least a finalist would take part in the SCD tour for next year?).

Oohh you`re a mind reader

It went through my mind as I typed the previous post that the judges were paying back the *public for knocking out their favourite last year

Dont think they`d be so childish.

* Not that I`m saying Gethin was the publics favourite.
Who Am I?

Hasn't the SCD Tour already got a winner taking part in Darren Gough and a runner up in Chris Parker? Surely they only need to have good dancers - or at least people who enjoy dancing.

I totally agree with you Servalan. It was as if the judges were afraid to upset Matt and thought that Gethin would take rejection better. The judges are totally to blame and Matt unfortunately is taking the backlash for it. A new set of judges should be in place for next year - this lot have had their day!

Couldn't agree more. Len and Bruno have spoiled this series completely for me and I will think hard about watching any series next year. I'm not saying that either Matt or Aliesha are bad dancers, they're not, but they are not as good as the judges, particularly Len and Bruno, are marking them.

When he messed up and was upset and downhearted-looking he was voted above both Letitia - but more importantly Alesha.

That must have entered his head that the sympathy vote is a powerful thing. Lets not forget Kate!

I'm not being horrible to him - but he has seen that laughing and joking all the time does not seem to go down well.

I hope he puts out an amazing performance on saturday and that he bucks up - because I think people do tire quite quickly with people feeling sorry for themselves.”

The above post was seen on Thursday 13th December after ITT, whose clips from rehearsal painted a horrendous picture of Matt and Flavia at loggerheads and Matt at that late stage still not getting his dances. All who saw this footage were alarmed. 2 days later all who saw an absence of meltdown experienced a tremendous sense of relief, and perhaps gratitude and euphoria.

A similar situation is about to recur. Twice this week Craig has said he is worried about Matt doing 5 dances on Saturday. Today he jokily said it is causing him loss of sleep. Any dance which even reaches completion would be understandably received as an achievement, with relief and gratitude -- congratulations for no meltdown.

We also see clips of Alesha having trouble getting a dance, being pessimistic, and so on.
