It seems that Gethin has touched a few hearts.

Gethin was a proper gent indeed today.

I've not been a Gethin fan - as far as his dancing has been concerned anyway - but the thought going through my mind as Gethin went up to congratulate Alesha on going straight through in the public vote was 'What a true gent'

As I've said on another thread I think, on the whole, the competitors are much more sanguine about being thrown out of the competition than their fans tend to be.

Respect and regard for Gethin and Camilla.

Trust such a good showing on SCD will bring both offers they so richly deserve.

I felt for Gethin and Camilla tonight, it was obvious they were gutted to be not in the final, good for Arlene to vote for Gethin, it was a very difficult choice for the judges to make, the semi final vote should not be a dance off. Gethin is such a lovely guy, can't wait to see him in the Xmas special.

The semi was tough for them as they had two dramatic dances to do, last week was probably Gethin's best all series and was bound to be hard to follow.

Anyhow I thought they did really well to get that far and you could certainly call him one of the most improved.

I'm glad there are some people out there who now appreciate what a lot of us have always seen in Gethin - it was never all about the looks.

Gethin is good looking, but I wasn't supporting Gethin because of his looks and it annoys me when it is suggested that is the only reason anyone is voting for Gethin, I like Camilla as well.

Yes, Gethin was an absolute gentleman tonight. As, in fact, he has been throughout the whole series.

We have never once seen him complain about his workload, whinge about scores from the judges or anything like that. He's just thrown himself into the whole competition with the utmost good humour and grace and has clearly had a ball. I am devastated he will not be in the final as I truly believed he deserved to be there, but Geth, take a bow - you're a star!

What a lovely man he is. Blue Peter is going to get more viewers I feel!

We will be at Somerset House on NYE - will report back if I see him!

Well done Gethin - he really danced so well and it was genuinely close. A nice bloke, too.

I'm another one who's never been fond of their dancing, but I was much more upset about his departure tonight than I thought I would be - Gethin was absolutely lovely, gracious in defeat, supportive of his friends when they are most in need, never complaining about anything. I even felt really sorry for Camilla when I never warmed to her all series. I do think they were a class act and it's such a shame that it isn't a 3 person final.

Good luck Gethin with whatever you do

Just seeing this thread title made me smile. It's totally true, Gethin took defeat so completely gracefully and I was so very proud of him and Camilla for the way they responded to the results.

Yes, I'd have loved to see them in the final; the two of them have made SCD must-see viewing for me over the last few weeks and I've shed a few private tears over seeing them go, but they did their very best in that dance off and I know I'll have the Christmas special to look forward to. Also hoping that Gethin gets a primetime presenting job so I don't have to be tuning into Blue Peter each week!

Gethin, Camilla - the two of you are complete stars and I want to thank you both from the bottom of my heart for a fabulous few weeks' entertainment that I'm not going to forget for a very long time to come. If I could, I'd hug you both.

Yes, he has been terrific. I know he and Camilla were disappointed, naturally so, but they were so gracious and will be remembered. Gethin will never be the same again! Wow!

I just wanted to put in my two pennethworth. I was actually a fan of Gethin and Camilla (as well as Alesha and Matt and, to a lesser extent, of Matt and Flavia). In fact, I thought the final three were the correct ones in the end.

I was gutted for them. Camilla looked like she was going to burst into tears even before Alesha's name was called out as the only one going through without a danceoff. And Gethin has, as everyone has said, conducted himself like a true gent throughout this entire thing. His good humour has shone through, together with the fact that he never complained (even though he was still working full time on BP - in fact, I seem to remember him saying to Claudia somehting along the lines of 'well, everyone's working, I have nothing to complain about' (not an exact quote and I may well have dreamt it!) and his sportsmanship has done him credit.

He comes across as someone you would like to get to know because he's a gent and it was obvious that he and Camilla had a very close working relationship ('he's not my pupil any more, he's my partner'), albeit that of dancing partners and friends.

I shall miss him. In my heart of hearts I wanted a Gethin/Alesha final and in that respect I really would not have minded who won.

But good luck to both Alesha and Matt (D!) next week in the final. I'm sure Gethin will be there (well, they all will be cos they usually are on final night!), cheering them on as much as he has done throughout this competition (even when he was competing against them).

I've just had the pleasure of viewing Greytops postings of the elimination clip and saw what Gethin did before he went over to Brucie. He's the only one who went over and congratulated Alesha and Matthew. In the excitement of it all I missed it. A true gent and so dignified in defeat. I wish him all the best and hope his budding romance is the real thing. Can't wait for the wedding photos

With pictures I hope. If you do see him, tell him that we all think he is a gentleman and were sorry he was eliminated - you know what to say....!

I had wanted a Gethin and Alesha final, and although I think Matt can be a fab dancer, I still wish that this was the final. As an Alesha fan, I can know that she would have been in the final regardless of the system, but it's a shame that Gethin could have had the highest votes and still gone out. I think the judges hamstrung themselves by giving that 40 - there was no way they could then kick off someone who had been, in their eyes, perfect. In fact, I wonder, had they known that the two boys would have been in the bottom two whether they'd have still marked it so highly.

Regardless, Gethin proved himself to be a gent and an all round good egg. Lovely man, and I felt so sorry for Camilla. Commiserations to Gethin, Camilla and all their fans.

Gethin really did show himself to be a true gent. Having watched him on Blue Peter a bit before SCD I really wasn't sure how well he'd do at the performance side but as we've seen he's really mastered it and to a level I never expected! I have really warmed to him and Camilla over the series and he was lovely in defeat. Best of luck to Alesha and Matt D in the final!

Gethin you are a GENT!

Never a truer word. A lesson in how to accept defeat with dignity and decorum. His parents should be very proud of the way he has been brought up.

I sent this to Gethin and Camilla on Camilla's website.

Dear Gethin and Camilla

I was not alone in shedding a tear at your departure from SCD and you brightened Saturday nights for me and many others. This is just to thank you both from the bottom of my heart for your talent, warmth, wit and good humour throughout the series. You have been outstanding and your dances will be replayed and enjoyed for a very long time.

Thank you both again, you were fantastic together and heartfelt best wishes to you both.
