Well done on insulting probably 3/4 of the people on here. What a lovely thing you are.

It really is terrible when people like a couple and have a good time supporting them, isn't it? They would be so much better off being cynical, miserable old sods who exist solely to pass a superior eye over everything else. Fools eh?

Surprised you get any enjoyment out of the show at all tbh.
It's so interesting what I see as the double standards here. There's far more tolerance of excessive positivity and obsession than excessive negativity and obsession....and I really don't know why.

In fact I don't believe I've been insulting...because in reverse I think it would be perceived as 'justifiable criticism'.

I understand that very few people share this view but it is my genuine opinion.

Perhaps because 'excessive positivity' is exactly that; positive. It's nice, not threatening and non harming. Your average person is going to have no problem with positivity because there's no real harm in it - if you don't like it fair enough, stay away from the places you find it.

'Excessive negativity' however is just seen as not the done thing, both rude and unnecessary and I'm glad it is frowned upon - shows people still have basic manners and a sense of what's 'right' (in other words there's no call for anyone to be an ar*ehole).

I think you have a rather warped view of excessive positivity however - seems to stem to anyone having a favourite and enjoying it.

Really? So you don't think stating:

On the other hand, at least I don't loiter in one of those pathetic ATs gushing nauseatingly and / or fantasising tragically about my 'favourites'.

is insulting?

Sorry but if that's the case then you obviously have quite twisted people skills.

I think it was a true compliment. It shows she thinks Alesha is an all round performer.

I thought it was a dig, but I think it's her hormones. She has the hots for Gethin and may be deluded enough to think she stands a chance, as many women of her sort of age can be. I'm, just as bad

I thought she was in her 60's, surely she's passed all that hormone stuff.

Arlene annoys me, she had the opportunity to say something nice about all three dancers but instead chose to say something not particularly nice about Alesha. Admittedly she only opens her mouth to change feet but i think the criticism should have been left behind at the judging stage (and quite frankly there was no criticism of footwork from Arlene at that stage in my recollection). I am sick of her double standards in relation to men vs women too.

Yep, I have noticed this too. I seriously think that Arlene finds it very hard to say nice things about Alesha, I find that it is always tinged with a bit of criticism. Why didn't she remind Matt to "not forget" his steps, should he return??? She is truely awful

agree with you and the poster you quoted

There just seems to be no need for it sometimes

Perhaps I heard wrong but tonight (in the result show) did Arlene say "Alesha has a gift for making people think she is the best dancer"?

Nothing like a back handed compliment!

Arlene is a shrew who is too busy trying to sound clever to make any sense at all!
