I think we have to consider the time frame of the competition and what we see there not what might happen if they have several more weeks.

Maybe standstill (and I don't entirely agree with that) but at a very high standard and with consistency. Matt doesn't have either of those.
Again, as a teacher, should a pupil get an A*, C, B, D, A* in his modules I don't think he should deserve a higher grade than someone who gets all A's.
Improvement should be celebrated but I cannot agree that it should be championed over consistent high standards.
