A good friend from Amsterdam sent me a newspaper clipping of an article about their native son, and former DWTS Pro, who is going on this season's Tour, Louis van Amstel.

It's in Het Parool, Thursday, 15th November, in the Culture section, over 2 broadsheet pages. Sadly my Dutch is not fluent, but I'll try and pick out a few tidbits for you. It includes a large photo of him rehearsing in his dance studio and he looks a handsome chap.
Also included are photos of Lisa Rinna "in action" (a former DWTS celeb partner.)

Louis has moved from Utah to Los Angeles to run a new Dance School, and there's a strong possibilty he'll be in DWTS 6. It's called the Anisa's School of Dance in Sherman Oaks, and he holds a "Cardio Ballroom Dance" class for the Health conscious Californians.

Louis was born in Amsterdam in 1972, and now lives and works in LA as a Dancer/Choreographer, and has choreographed for the forthcoming DWTS Tour, where he will also perform.
In his Amateur days he danced with English partner Julie Fryer, (a Pro dancer on the Dutch DWTS) they were Netherlands Latin Champions and World Amateur Latin Champions 1994-96, and he was also US Professional Latin American Champion in 2000 with Ukrainian partner Karina Smirnoff (fellow DWTS Pro).
He also trained in the Martha Graham Technique at Theatre school.

DWTS is known as "America's sexiest TV show" and Louis' 3 celeb partners were: Trista Sutter, Lisa Rinna and Monique Coleman.
(Apologies for not knowing about these celeb's careers, but you can watch dance clips of Louis from the first 3 series of DWTS at Raphael's site HERE.
The article talks about "Rinna/van Amstel's spectacular Paso Doble". (She's aged 44 btw).

In his lesson, Louis starts the warm up with the Disco classic by the Bee Gees "You Should Be Dancing" then Abba's "Dancing Queen".
After the class is finished, Louis tells all of his students:
"Good job, all of you!"

His philosophy when teaching and choreographing seems to be:
"You can get away with murder when you stay in your role", and "Attitude! I wanna see attitude!"

He'll soon be visiting the Mid-West Arenas of America in the DWTS Tour starting on 18th December, for which he is a contributing choreographer, co-director and Dance Captain, aswell as a Pro performer. He mentions a "spectacular" routine with Cheryl Burke and says that he brings an "emotional aspect" to dance.

Lisa and "her man" Harry Hamlin said to him:
"Come on Louis, buy a home in Hollywood! That's where you belong!"

Sorry, I have no scanner to share it, but I hope that gives you the gist of the article.

You're welcome.

I hope so too, I'd love to see him in the Spring Season.

They seem to manage to find a diminutive partner every year for Darren and Vincent on SCD.

Just found this clip of Louis dancing with Julie Fryer, his competitive partner of old, on the Dutch DWTS where she's a regular pro.

(Unfortunately the sound is not in synch with the picture, but nice to see them dance together).

Also alot of Julie & Louis clips have been added recently of their competitive and exhibition career. I must say watching Julie dance, to me she has a very English quality about her, and an English style.
