Leon on GMTV
He's just been on singing that awful dirge. Please tell me it was live as it was sooooooo out of tune. If he was miming that means even the studio engineers couldn't improve it. Also back to the "rabbit in headlights" look so much so that the presenter said at the end "you can cheer up now, it's over". Apparently he has had about 3 hours' sleep but while that's not ideal and singing early in the morning isn't easy, it's not exactly a great start.
Oh dear. |

omg so glad someone else saw this, he went completely off key doing the high note, if you've just been offered a million pound contract you should be able to hold a tune, the interview was dire aswell!!! and people wonder why we are upset!

I'm sure you know it was live. It wasn't out of tune, he was just a bit hoarse.

It only reinforces my belief that Rhydian was robbed
I`m trying to be constructive and maybe tiredness was to blame...........but that performance was dire - out of tune, he was constantly staring at the camera like a rabbit caught in the headlights His interview was painful at times - Andrew Castle was struggling to try and get any response from him.

. But I was just willing him to get throught it without making a complete dick of himself.Sorry to Leon fans, but he sings that song like it's a funeral march, it's all so h-e-a-v-y and dull. |

Thanks Leon for giving me the laugh I always need on a Monday morning.
What a shambles of an interview and what an awful performance. The tiny kids singing carols are better and I'm sure they would have more personality if they interviewed. What a joke. A great laugh. I loved it. What an amazing start. |

This reminds me of a load of vultures just waiting for someone to die so they can rip them to pieces. Only difference being, you're ripping the poor guy to pieces already.
If he'd mimed, that would have been wrong too. OK, so he's not as perfect as Rhydian obviously is, but who wants perfect. He started the song unsteady, and improved as he got into it. He's still a bundle of nerves and overwhelmed, you can see that. Be charitable for goodness sake - I think Rhydian would despise the way some of you are acting, and if not, then I'm glad he didn't win. |

The GMTV performance was dire - very out of tune. Was it live? He couldn't seem to hold some of the notes properly so instead of a smooth "When you.. beli-eeeeeeve" it sounded like "bel-ee-ee-ee-eeve" or something, as if he didnt have enough breath. He did look scared as well.

The interview and performance was sad and funny at the same time.
I wonder what Rhydian would have been like, vocally and personality wise, at 7.30am after three hours sleep. There's no excuse for it and no reason other than a lack of personality and talent in general. |

To be fair, as Rosie said - Leon is a young kid just starting out who has never sung professionally. Compared to him Rhydian is a verteran, its not really fair. The song isn't that great anyway IMO.

Maybe Leon isn't ready, I don't know. But I do know that the people who are just waiting for him to fall, and gloating because of it, are not the kind of people most of us would want to know - it's just nastiness, pure and simple, and the equivalent of the playground bully.

![]() I don't know who I felt more sorry for. This poor kid who has been put in a situation that he's neither ready for or deserves (and those who think people on here and other sites are being harsh really need to think about what the media is going to make if he doesn't sharpen up soon, vultures don't come into it) or for Simon, and I never thought I'd live to see the day I said that, for having to solve a problem like Leon. By the way, I was pleased that GMTV mentioned that Leon won by a very narrow margin because it was. |

![]() Sorry if that sounds a bit melodramatic. I know it's still very early days, but first impressions are important in the media world. |

I couldn't care less about experience or training. If Leon had been the best singer or the best performer or the most sparkling personality, or anywhere near it, his victory would have been deserved whatever the circumstances. But he wasn't on any count and that is what leaves a bitter taste.
Like Rhydian himself, we should be gracious in defeat

I just saw Leon's performance on GMTV. I thought he looked unwell. It is rather an early time to expect any performer to be at their best but it has to be said that he sounded terrible.
I don't think Leona sounded as bad last year when she made the same appearance? I wonder who will win the poll......Leon or the kiddy choir! |

But it isn't fair to call Rhydian a veteran. He had just finished university, had no experience singing popular songs or singing alone on stage - he has a complex about being filmed on camera and he was a bag of nerves every week which could be seen by his shaking microphone-holding hand. |

Well - I do admire him for singing such a difficult song live at that time of the morning. Shayne Ward hardly ever sings live, and he has a far more reliable voice.
Poor Leon - even Louis Walsh on Radio One just now was admitting Rhydian is the one who will have long term success. |
