Oneupmanship
McDancin' Feet
17-12-2007
I had the distinct feeling on Saturday that Len Goodman's marking smacked of oneupmanship.

He seemed to me to be deliberately over marking to spite Craig and Arlene.

To me this overmarking was at the expense of all the couples dances.

The bickering during the marking sessions was very uncomfortable watching for me.

I didn't enjoy Saturday's show at all.

Unfortunately it's happened all this series, ruins it for me sadly..

I think Len and Bruno also get off on the applause they get from 10s, probably a result of DWTS. Although Arlene is giving them almost as freely these days.

Apart from the 40/40, what really annoyed me on saturday was Len muttering something to Gethin after his paso, as if to say "ignore these cretins, I know best" and then giving him a 10.

For next year's Strictly I think there should be only one 10 paddle per show. The judges will have to award 10s on a first come first served basis. So If Craig gives a 10 he'll be on his own, and the others will have to explain that the dance is a near 10, like they did with Kelly's AS. They should then all be released for the final. This will ideally make them look a bit more closely at technique and performance.

IMO what Len did was wrong when he did a one man standing ovation to Matt. I know Matt needed some encoragment but as a judge you have to treat people fairly. Imagine how Gathin and Alesha felt when he did that

Please step down and retire Mr Goodman.

I have words to describe goodman(small g deliberate before the punctuation police start rattling their chops) I just can't use them here. It's a disgrace that my licence fee pays for the "doenut".

Len and Bruno don't treat it as a serious judging gig.
I think they must read these forums which are full of postings where the quality of the dance seems to not matter at all. They know what they are doing.

There was overscoring in all three dancers on Saturday.
IMO Alesha AT didnt deserve 2 10s. Len giving Gethin a 10 was a joke and maybe Matt should have had 4 9s.

So all in all, they were all overmarked and in the end it all balanced itself out.
