Your misguided implication that the GBP are both sexist and racist aside....are you also implying with your 'speech marks' that Matt humiliated himself and his dance partner, after a week (weeks) of hard work, on television in front of 9 million people on purpose?

As if anyone, especially a young man clearly concerned with his image...would do that. Regardless of whether you, rightly or wrongly, feel he deserves his place that is a pathetic swipe against his character.

I was responding to the comment in the OP that it is off until next autumn, that's not a problem for me as I have lost interest in the programme as it currently is produced and I justified the reason for losing interest. I included all the things I like about the current programme - which is not a lot.

And therefore much more exciting...

Let's just hope whoever wins in the final between Matt and Alesha that the SCD forum doesn't turn into a warzone like the X Factor forum

It's amazing how some forum members are still throwing tantrums in a thread explicitly titled for the opposite purpose. All sensible members, can we ignore the tantrums and try to focus on the positives? For the people who still want to whinge there are plenty of threads dedicated to it.

For me, I have loved this series because the contestants genuinely seemed to gel together so much and are supportive. You can of course sense competitiveness but at the same time they cheer for each other (I can remember seeing Kelly being ecstatic when Alesha got her first 10s for the waltz) and I'm sure they've all become great friends.

There were of course shortcomings and annoyances (particularly in relation to the judges) but that doesn't take anything away from the contestants themselves and their dancing.

I'm pleased Matt and Alesha are in the final, but wouldn't have minded either if Gethin was. Personally I did want to see Kelly in the final too but that unfortunately wasn't meant to be. I hope that they both will do as much as they possibly can to make it a great final.

There's nothing about this series I haven't enjoyed! The one regret about the series that I have is, however much I wanted her gone, Kelly's exit had to be through such tragic circumstances.

But I'm insanely (slightly obsessively) excited to see the final, and even though I'll be bitterly disappointed for Alesha to lose, if Matt wins I'll be the first to pat his fans on the back.

Things I have most enjoyed about this year's Strictly:

Alesha and Matthew - Alesha is born to dance and together these two make a great couple on the dancefloor. Off it, the warmth and humour in their relationship has really charmed me. Love 'em.

Camaraderie - it's been good to see such a genuine sense of support amongst (most of) the contestants, the competition has been conducted in a very sporting manner.

Dignity - Really loved the way sports celebs like John Barnes and Kenny Logan conducted themselves - got on with it without complaints, no unnecessary 'I'm a man's man' comments (sorry, Darren), gentle giants both of them.

Quality - we've been lucky to see such a high standard across the board from the start. Sadly, we'll never know how far Kelly and Brendan might have gone but they were a class act. Gabby and Penny had to dance off early when both should've made it to the later stages. Letitia and Gethin went from strength to strength after stuttering starts, and Matt D has been a shooting star in several of his dances. Don't let the overmarking distract from the fact that there have been some great dancers in this year's SCD.

What a nice thread, well done to the OP. I have found I have still enjoyed the series despite a few niggles. As usual, I found certain contestants grew on me that I didn't expect, like Penny. A particular bonus as I adore Ian. Likewise with Gethin, he and Camilla made a fantastic pair. I also like the fact that Brendan was nice and he has grown on me! He's never been my cup of tea up till now, but I thought he was sweet at times. I love the fact that different pro dancers made it through to the latter stages, and I loved all the pro routines in the Sunday show. Aw, I can't believe it's nearly over.

May I suggest that those who do not keep to the spirit of this thread are just ignored? If someone replies then this thread too will just degenerate into arguments like so many others. Shame.

I can't wait for the final - it's bound to be magical

this has been my fave series so far on a par with S2 for me

I have loved:

Alesha and Matt - just everything about them, chemistry, dancing, relationship
Brendan stropping - just wouldn't be the same without it
Penny proving that tall and leggy doesn't always mean graceful
Craig finally getting the recognition he deserves
Stephanie 'how did you feel?' 'oh it was ghastly'
Kenny - dude
Flavia's abs, but more importantly, her fabulous HAIR!!!!!
Tish proving that girls with big knockers can look elegant (try and avoid the burping and farting on camera though)

and finally.... MY FAVOURITE FINALLY GETTING THROUGH TO THE FINAL!!!!

I wont be starting any negative threads about him because i think he's lovely too.

Tantrums over ......... until Saturday night when the result is known , then I dare say it will be swords at dawn all over again whatever the outcome. Or should I say handbags at dawn?

(I say it in all honesty because let's face it - Human nature is unpredictable and hell hath no fury like a disappointed obsessive fan ).

Claudia is an ongoing delight, I will miss having her on the tv on a nightly basis. Gethin's breakthrough night when he waltzed with feeling and strutted his stuff. Kenny's Paso Doble in the kilt and Ola's final covering of her eyes. The terrible, terrible dresses that Tess has had to wear. The Robin Hood joke where all the men apart from Brucie ended up on the floor. Alesha's face whenever she gets a compliment that leaves her baffled. Karen commenting. (not as good as Karen dancing but better than nothing). Craig's consistency (though I'm not 100% I agree with his 10 on Saturday). And did I mention Claudia? I think we need more of Claudia!

What I won't miss? The feeling that Saturday night is OVER after 7pm because the rest of the evening is an anticlimax! (I need to get out more!)

Gosh ... favourite bits ...

The fantastic dancing ... particularly since I've been blown away by a number of different celebs, and each week I've had a different favourite.

The camaraderie ... it seems that all of this year's contestants and pros have bonded incredibly well. I've loved watching all of the backstage goings on, and love that they are all each others' biggest fans.

The pro dances ... wow ... I'll say it again wow! ... in particular I adored Vincent and Flavia's Waltz ... but all of the others were amazing as well.

The Forum ... making friends and meeting other SCD obsessives!

Couldn't say I _really_ liked her, but after an OK start and then she and Brendan really getting my goat, by the end she had totally ceased to annoy me, and had to extend enormous respect to her for maintaining her dignity through such a trying time with no thought of going for a sympathy vote. Kudos to her, I think few could have done it, and it showed an immense strength of character which wasn't immediately apparent to many during the show. It was a shame she had to go and especially in those circumstances, she should have at least made the semis.

Things I have enjoyed:

Alesha! Bless, she is such a fine dancer but also comes across as such a nice person. Matthew also has been allowed to shine more and the pair of them have been a pleasure to watch, week in, week out.

Kenny: what an absolutely lovely guy, and I never thought I would see him get to be the dancer he became - he may not have been amazing but his improvement from the start may have been among the most impressive ever on SCD.

The camaraderie has been almost palpable from very early on, and it has been lovely to see - we got there eventually last year but it started almost from the out this year, which was lovely.

There are loads of things but these are the ones that spring to my mind straight away
