Someone on the BBC forum has suggested that Gethin should be the new presenter of SCD next year. I think this is a brilliant idea. He has the right credentials, with the dancing and presenting background.

What do you think?

As long as they replace Tess I don't care who it is, probably one of the telly tubbies would be less annoying than her IMO

Depends. Bruce makes live presenting look easy - it's really not. OTOH, Bruce will be 80 soon, he may just want to retire after this season.

That sounds like a great plan.

I am not a fan of Natasha Kaplinsky, but when she did Tess's job a few years ago I thought she did very well. Much much better than dreadful Tess.

Other SCD competitors I would like to see present are Aled Jones or Roger Black, although I appreciate Roger might be more taken up with sports commentaries.

I for one don't think there's anything wrong with the presenters - it's the judges that are the problem! (See 1000s of comments on other threads.)

Yes, Bruce's jokes are corny, and sometimes Tess's dresses are a bit horrible, but they have a lovely rapport together, both get on really naturally with the audience and the dancers, and they both handle the live TV setting excellently.

10/10 for the presenters - 2/10 for the judges!

(And pleeeeze get rid of Len and Bruno...)

A Brilliant idea, especially with Kate Silverton as side kick (or should she be a celeb dancer?) And get rid of Len and put a muzzle on Bruno

I think I saw Brucie in tears at the end of Sundays show. Anyone confirm that??

I think they are better out there but not tried and tested like Bruce and Tess.

This subject comes up every year. I'm not a huge fan of Brucie, but let's face it, he's a British TV institution, loved by millions and, despite the corny jokes, he has an inherent professionalism and he's quite phenomenal for his age when you think the effort a live show like Strictly entails. I'd like to think that Brucie himself will know when to call it a day.

Marriage is an institution but fewer people want it nowadays.

I like Bruce But if he chooses to retire then Gethin wouldn't be a bad choice! Easy on the eyes

Maybe not quite so comical though?

Gethin's a bit wooden & uninspired. I can't really stand Bruce. Although his off-the-cuff quips can be genuinely funny in stark contrast to his scripted rubbish.

Anton would make a great host & would keep with the comedy/long-chin tradition.
But obviously, I'd rather see him dancing...

Yes she did. And I'm not a fan of her either.

I love the whole package, including Tess' fashion sense, Brucie's corny jokes and the judges. But maybe Len could control himself a bit, I really do not like it how he shouts down Craig or Arlene just because they say something he does not like.

I don't know the "now its just a performance problem" was quite funny!

Couldn't agree more SCD deffo needs some youthful and easy to relate too presenter I mean it is getting a bit tired, problem is of course just who do you replace Tess with......... lol

A terrible idea- Bruce makes the show's heart tick. We don't want another strictly ice dancing (or whatever it's called) with some bland presenter.

Gethin's day job is presenting live tv, but for all the people who complain about Brucie, anyone who tried to replace him would be judged harshly.

I can't help but think Brucie needs to cut back a bit if not now, soon. Maybe bringing in a second male presenter wouldn't be a bad idea, and they could do a lot worse than Gethin. Does anyone know if they have someone on stand-by to fill in for him if he were to take ill?

It would be easy enough to draft someone in to do Tess's job, and I don't mean that as a criticism of Tess as such, more that she doesn't play on her own name and image, or knowledge of dance.

I think presenting the show is much harder than we think and Bruce does a great job! If they did replace him (and I am not saying they should) then Graham Norton would be my first choice as I think he was very good on Joseph.

But it would probably end up being camper than Hi De Hi with the current judging line-up!!!!

I would love to see John Barrowman or Denise Van Outen on the judging panel if they are shopping around for new faces.

URGH!

If Gethin presented SCD my TV would remain switched off.

I think they should keep Bruce as long as possible, I find this slightly throwback quality he gives to the show very charming.

The only plus side is that he would know what the contestants are going through and would obviously be more favourable to Camilla . I think Gethin needs another recorded presenters job first like Holiday or something

I'm not a fan of Bruce's corny jokes but I think he does add to the feel of the show - a traditional, heart-warming kind of entertainment show on a Saturday night. If we get younger presenters the atmosphere of SCD will change quite dramatically (whether in a good or bad way).

Tess doesn't add anything though apart from entertaining us with the hideousness of her dresses. I wouldn't mind if she was replaced by anyone.

I think Bruce is too old & old-fashioned for the show.

It makes me feel like I'm watching some 70s relic.

There are as many young peeps watching as old ladies, and
for me, he's like an embarassing grand-dad.

I'm happy with Brucie and Tess.
