This is a gem of a marketing strategy. The rightful winner who came across early on as arrogant loses and is now beloved by many and seen to have been done over like a kipper. Millions feel sorry for him and are shocked by the result. We now want to hug him and tell him it will all be ok.
We want him to succeed and go out and buy his first album by the bucket load.

Superstardom awaits Rhydian it really does. Clever old Mr Cowell. A perfect way to erase the early stitch up.

I understand what you're saying, but I would like people to buy Rhydian's album as they enjoy his singing, not because they feel sorry for him.

HAHA nice to put a positive spin on it but face it, how many people actually appreciate the operatic genre, he's doomed DOOOOOOOMED.

I was certainly thinking of buying a Rhydian album as I really like his voice
Does the OP mean Cowell actually planned Rhydian losing? Why did he look so gutted then?
As the final went on I thought it was a Will v Gareth situation, the more experienced singer against a younger man.

I don't think Cowell made this happen Cowell is making the best out of a pigs ear situation.

Ooh now that's pushing it, anyone that criticizes Leona needs their hearing check.

Maybe Simon planned to make Rhydian come 2nd place. He did say at the beginning of the show, there is going to be a big upset tonight.

Simon wanted Same Difference to win and thought Same Difference were 2nd place in most of the polls.

It backfired on Simon when they came 3rd hence the guilty look on his face when he realized he had sabotaged Rhydian’s chances with the song choices and VT best bits edits.

Simon is a ruthless business man.

Same as anyone that (seriously) proclaims Leon to be "amazing".

In any event coming second as definately helped soften Rhydian's image. The old tags will be forgotten now which is a good thing

That doesn't detract from the fact that he should have won.We all know that he'll have a far longer career than poor Leon... But it makes the whole show look stupid when it throws up such a result.

True... It's still the wrong result though.

Only if you wanted Rhydian to win. Would it be fairer if they just gave it to Rhydian even though he polled less votes?

Sorry but I dont think the press are doing Rhyd any good with the radios station boycotting Leon song etc, coz Rhyd didnt win is make people look at the welsh as being very childish. And also some the bitterness from some Fan are getting up people nose. If anything if this goes on it will back fire on Rhyd as people dont like all the hate and more so when its xmas and will need some one to take it out on which will be Rhyd IMO.

People don’t like too much manipulation and it could cost Simon viewer ratings for next year’s Pop factor.

This series has been one big joke, sob stories/mediocre singers…apart from the talented Rhydian.

The Classical Crossover and Middle of the Road markets are growing. How often do you see adverts selling this style of music on TV nowadays? The question is how will Rhydian compare against the likes of Andrea Bocelli, Russell Watson, Josh Groban and even Michael Buble?

I don't speak in your language [text?] Anyway, I got the gist of what u was chattin about.

I can't blame the radio stations for their actions. The result was a total farce! Rhydian is World class and he will prove it.
