It was just pointless as far as the judging goes - it was purely an attempt at self promotion

Because judges are supposed to be genuinely impartial and I just think it was cringeworthy and to be honest the dance was just "OK" I know this is only my opinion, but everyone in our house cringed when he did it (even the Boxer!)

Okay, he lied. He did a standalone standing ovation to Mark and Karen's Showdance last year.
Why should he do you in??? ![]() Genuine question... I expect genuine answer...

I know it's been said and I'll probably get slated for saying it but I think a large part of why Len gave Matt a standing ovation is because:
A- After last week it was a magnificent improvement. [But not, IMO, the best dance of the series so far. It was amazing. But several others should have received a standing ovation if we're judging by the standards of M&Fs waltz]. B- he's Len's favourite. I thought it was a bit daft. Len's lost all credibility this year- he's stuck in his USA mindset. |

It certainly p****d me off.
There have been dances worthy of standing ovations where his bum stayed firmly on his seat. What was he applauding? The dance or the fact that Matt managed to get through it without choking!! |

Firstly, I loved Matt and Flavia's waltz Saturday night.
But Len's one-man standing ovation made me cringe. ![]() Yet, it's all strangely in-keeping with his increasingly odd, grumpy and self-serving behaviour and comments this series. I honestly think the whole 'Dancing with the Stars' experience, while maybe good for his bank balance, is not doing his general well-being much good. |

I for one thought their Waltz was PERFECT as far as a male celeb goes. I remembered Gethin's Waltz was near-excellent, except for some missed heel leads and I think it was the same with Alesha (and both Gethin and Alesha edged Matt a little in PERFORMING the Waltz), but I thought Matt held himself very well and didn't put a foot wrong. Only his facial expression on two occasions (I thought it was one but I realised he did it twice when watching the dance again): i.e. he stuck out his tongue to wet his lips (either because he was nervous or he's trying to remember what to do next). But I guess the judges was swept away by the romance they so completely portrayed in the Waltz... Bruno was more swept away by his come-back as he already said in his comments. Craig, I believe truly mark according to his criteria, music, choreography (performance) and technicalities... I think I am the only one who thinks Matt's Waltz deserved a perfect 40. I have an impression that even Matt's most dedicated fans beg to differ with my opinion... I don't mind being alone in this! For me his Waltz is on par with last year's AT by Mark and Karen: one dance which I will NEVER get sick of watching again and again... |

Honestly - it is not in my nature to rant!! - As I said I really do like Len, but TBH I cringed when he did it last year and this year it was even worse, because it was like applauding him for REMEMBERING his steps - LOL!
I liked the Waltz (I love Flavia) but it wasn't a perfect 10 IMHO |

Let's just say that Len is becoming more and more cringeworthy by the episode.
He may be under instruction from the producers to overplay his part...who knows...but the fact remains he's an embarrassing clown nowadays. |

If you think Len should now bow out gracefully....
... then sign my new online petition to revamp the judging panel and remove him as the head judge:

I thought Matt's waltz was fabulous but the standing ovation was a bit over the top and cheesy.

I'm not an expert on dance though, and judging by what I read not many people on here are either. That's why I'm looking forward to hear the expert views on ITT this week. As far as Len is concerned, yes, I also think he's losing the plot a little and has gone way over the top this year - but not on this occasion. |

Does anyone take 'Looney Len I'll give it ten' seriously anymore anyway?

No, you're not the only one. I also thought it was as near-perfect a walz as I've ever seen. They looked as though they were floating on air. I don't know if you'd call me a dedicated Matt fan as I'm also an Alesha fan and am hoping for whoever dances best on the night to win.

I couldn't fault it technically but he looked like he was concentrating and he wasn't smiling enough...ergo not performing it for me to justify 40 or a standing ovation.

That was it for me too, however, I think Matt may have been canny/lucky enough to have made the facial expressions which seem to have broken the spell for many viewers when his back was to the judges.
I loved Alesha's waltz. I loved Gethin's waltz. I didn't feel Matt's justified a 40 over and above theirs. |
